    Paper Planes

    Hi all,

I am doing my semestral project now, I need a paper plane that can fly 10m with a 1 dollar coin. I can only use A4 size paper. Any of you guys have experience in this area? Need help. Thanks.

    Regards,
    You Zhi

You Zhi... Ghostfit is a dear friend of mine and he asked me to give you some advice regarding your paper airplane challenge. If you are able to get a copy of my book, I strongly suggest you use the Condor model with a step on top. Also, use a fairly stiff paper because you will need to carry the weight of the coin. I am assuming that you will be flying indoors in this event. All my planes have their wings taped tightly to the fuselage so that they will not flop up and down in flight. Make sure to practice with a few builds first until you "own" the experience of how they go together and how they fly. It is extremely important that the wings line up properly on both sides of the fuselage and that they have the same thickness on the wing. If one wing does not line up perfectly with the other it will cause the plane to veer off course. You want the plane to fly perfectly straight. After you find the center of gravity, tape the coin in tightly. Then, launch the plane on a slight angle so that it will climb up high, then level off and go into a nice long glide. Be sure that you've given each fold a nice sharp crease. I use a small triangle to do this. Using the Condor, I once challenged the Wright Brothers distance record of 122 feet which was down in Kill Devil Hills, NC, where they first flew. My longest flight was 401 feet, four inches.

Let me know how it goes. You can always email me at:

I wish you luck and success.
