ESC amps have to be higher than motor amps

Not really. It depends on the load / amp drawn.

If a motor rated 20amp max, load it with a prop tat draws only 10amp, u can use a 15amp esc no problem.

A ESC with rated amps less than motor rated amps may acutally save the motor as it will reach thermal cut before the motor can burn out. but may not save the plane.

Most of the time pple use a ESC with amp more than motor rated amps to be safe and so that they can utilise the motor to the max. The safest is still to use a watt meter n measure the load, amp drawn so u dont burn either the motor or ESC.
      what's next?
