    P-38 Lightning - Balsa

    Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get P-38 lightning plane?

    I know GWS has one.
But, I prefer those made of Balsa and about 50 size.

    Thanks!

thanks raven. unfortunately, nitroplanes do not ship planes that are more than 40 size..

Note for International Buyers - If you are located outside of the United States/Canada, and wish to order one of our Nitro Planes, please note that any size 40 or above ARF Planes are unable to ship outside of the United States and Canada. Please consider 15 to 25 size model planes or other smaller size goods.

            Lightning

I've got one sitting in the storeroom for a year liao. P-38 EP.
            1.2m wing span,
not exactly 50 size, more like 25-30 size. good for PFW.

Can bring to PFW if you interested.

            Cheers,
            Leon

thanks leon for bringing it down!
it was a very nice plane.
unfortunately, the limitation is on my car...cannot fit the 1.2m wing span..
to fly this plane, i need to upgrade my car which is too expensive...
now technical recession so must be thrifty liau...

guess, I have to KIV my plan for now.
but well, the plane is now in a good hand of an experience pilot.
let's wait for it to be maidened..

              cheers!

I suddenly 'hope teo' this plane. It was never in my plan to start with. I was concentrating on my EDFs. Kit now in the hands of an experience builder. Let's see how soon he can get it up for maiden flight.

Thanks Leon for letting go the plane....and thanks Loderunner for the 'lobang' and 'poison'.

building this plane would need some skill and patience.
but once it is done, it will be a beauty man.
so, do not rush him liau...

now thinking whether I should just settle with GWS one which is a slightly smaller version of what you have. but knowing how GWS plane is, probably i will complete it 12 months later......unless, I also outsource the work...

Go get the GWS kit la. I believe he can get it done for you as well even though I believe he is busy working on it now as we have just finalised on the type of motors to use.

GWS' P-38 is actually not too bad... I've just completed mine.

wow, amazing. It's the electric version right? What's the setup like? Motor, ESC, etc. What kind of Lipos?

Are you going to set the props in counter-rotate like the real P-38?

                            wow!...looks good man!...
the reason for holding back the GWS P-38 is because of the time required to build it...which I don't have. I did visit the GWS P-38 lightning discussion thread in here...and I gather the effort required is quite substantial.

now, I am considering the e-filte P38 which is almost 95% built.
                            see below link.

                            E-Flite P38 Lightning

still reviewing it and trying to source a cheapest way to bring it in.
if it is not economical, I will just settle for GWS lor...

Thanks... Maidened the plane.. flew it twice. and decided that it does not have enuf power. So now it's grounded until I solve the power problem. The setup is 2xTurnigy 2205 1088kv 8A outrunner with 18 Amp ESC.

I bought 1 pair of GWS 3-blade counter rotating prop but decided that it it too soft. So I used a pair APC-style 8x5 standard direction instead.. that's when I discover the lack of power. Will be trying 9x5E.

                              I use 3S 2000 mAH batteries.

Oh man, the e-flite looks beautiful.. Where can you get it from and what is the price??
