IFO is not easy to fly, compare with conventional model plane. You sure you wanna get that for your bro? That is if your bro is a newbie like you.

If you do get an IFO, you need to have experience people there to teach you how to fly. My first 20 maiden flights didn't last more than 10secs. Spent more time repairing than flying.

      For your consideration.

PS: Just that I like those LED lights. Looks swee at night. And don't have much problem with frequency clash. Just me alone flying with my lighted IFO..... and a whole bloody swarm of mosquitoes....

hmmm... IMO the flying is quite the same bro. but its the setting that really makes it difficult. Given the right expo and throws, its actually quite easy and enjoyable to fly. Of course u have to be a good pilot as well... Just my opinion though...

My first try with this was like 5 sec. Ha … that was when I was still new into the hobby. So for first timer and never fly anything before, start with a 3 channel high wing plane. Unless you like to do repairs.

          Just to share.

I've to disagree (but not violently). When flying a conventional plane (high wings), I can look away for 3 secs and the plane will still be flying on its determine course. It floats well. On a calm day, if you don't touch the aileron, the plane can stabilise itself.

For the IFO... nope... But the only advantage for the IFO is, the damage can be easily repaired. It is also tougher than conventional plane, when it comes to crashes.

But all said, the IFO was the only one, during my first few tries, able to do rolls and loops. Just that it wasn't really me controlling it... More like the IFO controller me, always struggling to counter react..... As always, it will ends with a spectular crash, if it doesn't hit me first... It wasn't easy flying it, and it wasn't pretty. I sweat buckets everytime. But if you have master the control, IFO is one where you need less space to fly. It can fly low and slow. And I really, really like the LED lights, when flying at night.

            Just my opinion, bro.

Oops... it should be "controlling me".

                flying ifo

well, adding my views on ifo. I was trying to sell my ifo last week. i got quite a number of queries and all seems interested to buy and fly it. but when i asked them if they actually fly a plane before, most of them replied no. so i have to explain to them ifo is not easy to handle and discourage them to buy from me.

they like the lights on it esp when flying at night, all ended up to go and try for a beginner plane first. my experience with ifo was very bad. ended doing repairing, messing with CA most of the time and spending 10 props per session. quite a pain in my pocket. after which i started off with lama3, then plane and now back to ifo. more control and enjoyable now.

                just my sharing

It was the LED lights that makes me get it.... I was seduce by it...

But I still like it... even added additional bulbs and change the older ones because it was not bright enough....

But I don't really like their flying characteristics. The turns can be quite adrupt and sharp. Unlike planes which tends to have a more pleasurable flying lines. Either that or my flying skills sucks....

agreed. thats y as i mentioned u have to be a good pilot as well. of cos its not extremely recommended for noobs. so far from wat i observed, most beginners to this hobby tends to go for the looks instead of the flight characteristic. i'm one of them when i started this hobby. but once they tried it, they will start putting blames on the planes or kite itself that is until they fully understand wat flying is really about. to me its more about learning, discipline and progressing rather than by just jumping straight up. IMO, if u can really make the kite follow yr command, basically u can fly most planes. But eventhough u can fly a plane, it doesnt mean u can fully command a kite. hehehe

It is not better or worse in this case. It depends on which aircraft u or ur bro have interest in.

                          hmmm

another advise is to give serious consideration when deciding to take up this hobby. give a full thought on wat u guys really want. Is it really yr interest or just for the sake of trying? If u really wanna go long term, yr startup investment might ends up saving u lots of cash. but if u give up half way, of cos it will cost u much losses too... u cant ask a person to tell u which is better between plane or heli. it is all a matter of which is yr preference. from there then u can further elaborate on which is the better plane or heli for beginners and i'm sure u can get lots of info on that here in DH. just use the search functions and voila... hehehe

Before you dive right into it.... Why don't you go to any one of the flying site, for a few visitation. See them fly. I'm sure you will get lots of advices on what you should go for. Why not to start off, go get a simulator and flying planes/heli on a computer. I think it is the best starting point for a newbie.

I'm not a heli flyer, but I've been told that it is not a easy thing to fly. I could be wrong here.
