Simple release setup for SS

Thanks for Edwin have an additional plane for me to play with. Plan for AP but just for fun tried on "boom" drop and found it is really simple to setup ....what you need are:

1) extra servo
2) some scrap foam and plastic card.
3) used AAA bat (boom)
4) extra chr for control
5) thin double sided stape

It can setup in 15 min....

following is the diff "booms" I used .....

release mechanism in close position...... the servo was attached to the fuselage with stronge double sided tape and the rest is with thin double sided tape. The plastic card and the pics of foam form the boom base... the servo arm holds the load....

This is how it looks like with boom in position.... only thing to take note is that there should be slight gap between the servo arm and battary to prevent jam. The AAA bat is the best as it is equal to the thickness of the fuselage.....

The only sucessful shot of the day ..I dont have a super good camera.... but is good enough to show how effective is the setup. Thanks to John for the pic taking.

Is fun , you can drop something else too by modifying the release setup.... next with see can make a multi boom drop ....

when the servo is in realease position,it realeases the batt .....but how does it realese the chute?

Im guessing gravity does that.

Yap the battary weight will pull the chute out , and the chute was kept between the elevator and rudder servos.... is recommended to use thinner plastic for the chute.... as the bag material I use is too thick and sometime did not open properly. Oh you need min 2 AAA bat for the chute to ensure it will pull it out....

Ya...Really had a good funfly yesterday. Beautiful weather with a bit of strong wind. Luckily, all planes managed to handle...

Nice to see loyn came out with this fun idea of boom drop. Next week will try to capture more good photo...Maybe, multi boom drop ....

The pic shows diff view of the figure in position will test it and hope it will work.....

Hey Loyn very nice setup there!!! Tomolo will be a live task there for the paratrooper. Green on go....1000,2000,3000, Check.....@#%%^, canopy deploy.

attached a tiny motor on the man, after deploying self power...control the motor with a micro receiver and ESC (semi Para plane)

that Paratrooper must be terrified, being strapped on like this to get on height for deployment lol.
