    F-15 scratchy out of $6 worth of materials

    My f-15 don't look very pretty but i manage to make it and fly it with my tightest budget of $9. ( dun mind the scotchtapes and uglyness of the plane)

    2 styrofoam = $4
    1 art select glue = $1
    1 carbon rod = $3
    some tape = $1

    Wingspan = 90cm
    lenght = 110cm
    weight = super light of 150 grams (with nothing)
    loaded weight = 400grams ( still very light considering the size of the plane)

    Running on 2s lipo, wanna try 3s but the sun set so quickly! so i'll do it tomorrow.

    The plane tends to float all the time, even with full throttle its moving so slowly, gaining attitude was hard ,a little too much AOA it will stall. But still enjoyable to fly it cause its gentle.

    After playing around with pusher prop , i'll convert this into a single EDF (have to save up for 2 ducted fan someday )

    Heres the video of the madien flight i made yesterday afternoon.

    Hi! nice build. Really slow on 11x5 prop and GS 900kv motor. Just checking, did u reverse the prop? prop facing the motor? If it is, then it's correct. Saw it fly and really look cool and slow. Abit tail heavy isn't it? Maybe other bro here can comment on it. Try smaller prop, 10x7 to get a decent speed, else a higher kv motor will suffice, say 1050kv.

    In all, nice flying.

    cheers!

      Yep, prop facing motor. Ya i guess its tail heavy abit.., i'm still finding the excat CG spot. (scratch head) , Each time i hand lauch the plane i'm putting it at great risk ,either stalling or nose heavy. But sometimes just my luck,it glides.

      Oh by the way, through out the flight, i was running full throttle, any less the plane will stall...., i'm guessing its either the body+wing area is too huge or the GS 900kv isn't giving out enough thrust. Can't be the weight cause..its only ~400grams!

      and ya..i got a quesiton. Um for pusher prob, do i add down or up thurst?(cause for planes with front prop they add down thrust)

        Err... dude.. I just checked out jethobby, recommended prop for GS 900 is 10x4.7 to 10x7 on 3 cell. Try 10x7 tomorrow, let it be a little nose heavy, I think 11x5 prop is too big and over drawing too much amp.

        just my 2 cents.

          Ok thanks for the info, will keep this thread posted after my flight tomorrow on 3s. yep i agree that 11x5 draws too much amps, the gs900kv motor temperature is around...70-80 degress full throttle for 2minutes on estimation..

            ya know what might be cool, up the thrust out of the motor/prop and see if you can make a 3D F-15!
            keep up the good work!!!

              Man, I see another SPAD freak here!

              Great job Viper, you inspire us.

              And floaters are good....they are good trainers. Beware of the strong winds!

              3S should give your foamy some speed.

              400 gms is really light!

                        A big congrats to you alex.
                        That's slow enough to fly indoors, i really like the whole feel of it.
                        Seems like if it's a tad lighter, and abit more powerful, it wld really rock.

                        Good Job.

                          Ok heres the video of my f-15 running on 3s.

                          was running 80%-100% throttle all the time, anyless it will loose attitude quickly or worst will go into a stall if i pull it up a little. But still was fun to fly it was obviously faster and more responsive then the 3s lipo. After flight my motor was burning hot. Really really hot to the touch. I continue using the 11x8 prop,lazy to go down to town to get smaller prop
