    Himax Gear Box

Guys... how to mount the prop to the himax gear box? It came with those aluminium prop holder and nose... but atfer I attached the holder to the shaft.... it is still loose.. I can pull it out easily....

    How to secure it properly?

U might have to put in an extra washer to make sure the spinner fully "clamps" down on the shaft.

I had to do that with my 3.17mm shafts and thin electric APC props

Think the original adaptor for it wasnt very secure. David bought an adaptor from SHS and it does the job well.

I on the other hand , I am stingy I prefer GWS prop and thus "flatten" those knurl lines on a standard GWS shaft. A little spacer/collar is require at the back of the shaft.

nic since you have so many GWS shaft I would recommend to get one modify for the gb. So that you can use both the APS and GWS prop as you like.

If you have no time or tooling for the modification, I can do it for you if you want to. Just did that for John and flew his spitfire this morning. really cool

          Just PM or sms me.

i just got my himax gearbox and figured out how to tighten the prop adaptor.

most of em comes with the nut grooves but this one only has 2 holes on the spinner. so stick a small screwdriver or a hard long metal piece and stick it through the 2 holes on the spinner and twist it in like that...

i figured this is the way to tighten it la... dunno if the holes are meant for this but this is what i did and it worked.

Yes you are right that is the what those small holes are for. BTW do you still need the landing gear, miss U at Bishan. I will pass it to Mike next time meet up with him and you can ask him for it.

Yup... that hole is for you to pu in a metal like allen key and tighten it. Alternatively is to change to GWS shaft.

Here is the method I previously post regarding on how to mod using GWS shaft. End result is the same as Mike

Hmm.... I think u either go to Yishun Avenue 7 at the heavy vehicle parking area (Frank I think is the frequent flyer there) or Yishun Central at the open field.

Oh man... I get the gear box so that I don't have to use those lousy GWS shaft.... now I need to go back to it???

This morning it took me 25 minutes to drill a hole through the GWS props... end up no time to fly...

Oh well.. must go think of other methods...
                          huh

Then getting a good adaptor from SHS seems unavoidable for you Take note APC prop don take crash. It breaks.
