    FLying by FPV

after lurking around some of the overseas forums on FPV ( First Person Video )

i have sort of decided on parts i need..

    2.4Ghz Tx/RX Module ( 500mW TX )..
    KX131 - CCD Cam
    Lipo Batteries
    a pair of VR googles...

but first i need a plane.. .. a easystarter would be a good one..any recommendation for this...

2.4GHz TX / RX will not be those commercialise sets...range not far....

i have managed to get a source inthe UK for a long rang module which i have to diy the whole set.

hi there, I a interested in building up a FPV system, but hor ... you need 2 servos, gyros, microcontroller to make it more realistic. This is because your setup is nothing more compare to a normal wireless video setup.

FPV would only be complete with mechanical motion on the camera that corresponds to the motion sensors on your VR goggles. .... but it is best to look for off the shelf solutions for motion sensor.....but... if you want to DIY....it is a big project.... need a lot of effort. You read on RC-CAM ?

hi PAKKUA80...well..i have got the links to buy the head tracking unit and VR google...these 2 items are the big ticket items in this set up..so i will tingle with the Tx / RX modules first..once i get that fully working then i will consider the head tracking unit and VR googles.

oh btw ..thse cheap HK wireless cam are not what i am getting...what i will be getting a industrial modules which i have to DIY all the connections etc.

        this one

those ebay HK wireless system are a no go for me..i tried once before..video dropout is too great.. unless i use a patch antenna...but trying with a patch antenna on 1.2 Ghz modules seems better....

hm... with the effective range of 400feet i think its all about flying circles and not so much of pilot feel bah... i think...correct me if im wrong...

ele, keep us updated. I'm working on the avionics for FPV - basically the GPS, artificial horizon, OSD, and stuff. Eventually I'm thinking of trying FPV out. I will be building my own microcontroller stuff and writing my own code.

Currently I'm working on the maths for the Kalman filter required to provide an artificial horizon from my 5DOF IMU unit. I have most of the microcontroller parts and will be working on the OSD in parallel.

As for the camera panning, you can slave that to one of the unused controls if you have them on your TX.

I'd be happy to help you out if you're interested.

                              Daniel
