Information for retracts on GWS P51

Hi would like to find out anybody have done it and would like to share any building experience about it. Like what should be the critical factor or point to take notes of. e.g.

    1) What is the servo you used
    2) Power setup for the plane with retracts
    3) wheel size
    4) length of the landing gear
    5) type of retracts (micro or mini)
    6) reinforcement done

All advise are welcome and your assistant is much appreciated

For the servo, use any micro/mini servo will do. don't need very much torque to pull the gear up.

Power setup...definitely you will need a higher power/ higher speed for heavier aircraft. On top of that, you might need flaps for low speed handling i.e. Appraoch and landing.

Wheel size...40mm sponge wheel with plastic hub will do. Available from GWS. Very light weight compared to those with rubber tire and aluminium hub.

Length of Landing Gear depends on 2 factors. First is the length of the Landing gear itself. The GWS pico is about 14cm, so you are looking at a max of 12 cm. The other factor you are interested is probably the size of prop and the scale factor.

GWS pico (black) retracts are designed for GWS electrics. Lightweight and strong enough for hard landing.

Not much reinforcement to be done. Install your servo in front of the servo well for the wing servo, drill 2 "tunnels" from the servo to the retract gears, use flex linkage (pushrod hosing) for control, remember to cut the wheel well for the tires.

Hope this is what you are looking for. Feel free to comment...

          Cheers

On side note, I notice in oversea, they use "micro retract servo" over our normal HS-55 or so..... something like cirrus. Anyone out there tried it?
