SPA3D MK.3 finally got it right (pics)

    hello all
after three tries and many extensive nights of labour(not really) i give you the spa3d

the spec: material 4mm coroplast(also knon as coro)
    3mm thick aluminum U-channel

engine: ASP 40 swinging a master airscrew nylon 10x4 (going to change to an 11x4 to get a bit more out of the engine)

radio equitment: standard futaba s3003 servos x 5 (2 for the ails instead of one, i had the spare and thought ide give flaperons a try) futaba 6 ch rx

you can note on the attached pics that the rear of the fuse is extensively drilled to reduce wieght

flying weight totaled to be 4plbs and 12 ounces a bit much and could definately do with a more powerful engine

hope this inspires all of you potential spaders

well.. its a slow stick of a sought, its more like a flat plate, you need to have an angle of attack that is at least about 15 degrees to generate lift. the plane is increadibly manouverable wiht 4inch ailerons its mment to do 3D.
i will let you all know how she 3D's this weekend ive only had a breef flight with it so far

hey jamesg25! i built the exact model its flies real well! hovering is easy with this model.. there is a slight design flaw in this model.. u might and add some reinforcements for the vertical and horizontal stabs coz i experience lots of flutter!

ya, i know about those, the simple soloutin is just to make them bigger, the fin that i have on mine is 8 inches and the rudder is 4 inches instead of fin being 4 inches and rudder being 4 inches
              seems to work just fine
              thanks for the tip tho

here are a few interesting statistics
                weight of plane: 2KG
                thrust of engine: 2.5KG
                power to weight ratio 1.25:1

                  hello all
this weekend has been very good i must have got about 2 hours worth of stick time with this bird it exelent it is a real flotter its just like a butterflie the plane does harriers very well and i think that is my favourite 3d manouver, right now it dosnt have enough power to hover or go vertical so i thing i will replace the 40 size with an 80 4 stroke, double the cubic inches double the power (i know that not the case but o well)

well, i cant wait to get her back in the air
                  regards
                  to all
                  james
