    Getting Started in EDF?

    hey guys,
i'm thinking of getting an EDF, just to get a "feel" of the speed and agility they offer
although i'm mainly a heli flier, i also have a Cessna i fly once in a while
just wondering.. what makes a good beginner EDF?
    The Hangar:
Trex 500 ESP (workhorse of the fleet)
    HoneyBee King 2(Decommisioned)
    Raptor 50 v2(nitro burning monster)
    Walkera 68b (storage)
ST Models Cessna 182(given up repairing)
All flown by a JR X3810

    The Garage:
    Kyosho Stadium Force TR-15
    Tamiya TT-01D Silvia S15 (Selling!)
    KO PROPO EX-Master S Radio

i've got BLATF syndrome. Bad Luck At The Field.

Not had more than 1 experience with EDF plane. But if you were to ask me, I would recommend the EPO foam Red Arrow.

64mm fan. Runs on 3S easily and with aileron and elevator controls. I would say, its the simplest EDF to fly around since it is already pre-built. More, it is EPO, rather crash worthy. Not many EDF planes are EPO.. this is one exception.
    I'm Remotely Controlled ...

Personal experience with the Starmax F-18. On my 2nd flight, the ESC blew out (this was a common problem with the earlier batches I believe). I was doing a slight bank at that time. The plane glided along that path for like 4-5 circles before landing on the grass - no damage

Oh and it's very easy to handlaunch (which if you ask me is very important!)

Hi BB, looks like you are still knew to flying aircraft. From Cessna to EDF hmm... not to discourage you, I think you try to practice on a intermediate low winger aerobatic aircraft first before going into EDF jet plane.

However, if you want try EDF, go for entry level EDF jet like EP-10 firebird see link

J.H use to carry this kit am not sure if they do now . They call it EP10- Electra jet.

The price are reasonable and the jet can be completed and ready to fly quite easily.

A few weeks ago, I saw a guy flying this kit at Woodland. Maybe can ask around.

        Cheers

          thanks for the replies guys,
but i think i'm gonna put this on hold for now.. just crashed my cessna today
and now everything forward of the wing is... not part of the plane.
will salvage what i can and hope for the best
anywayz, i shall keep your ideas in mind.

my friend hand launched it, and it flew very unstable froa while. then it stalled and banked to the right and crashed hard.
the entire cockpit and nose came off
i think i'm gonna stick with helis for now

Art-Tech Jetiger was my first EDF. Something like 159 sgd (just add rx,tx) from -----------.

I really like its simplicity. The wing-body is one single piece of foam!

It's EPO foam, which most (not all?) people prefer over EPS.
Most crashes are easy to fix with epoxy. It ends up even stronger after epoxy. Although I don't think you should expect to be able to get the exact same shape back. For mine, the nose section has ended curving upward and slightly kinked to one side. Doesn't seem to affect flight.

The motor burnt out in mine after about 10 packs. And before that, I had issues with thermal-shutdown of the ESC. This was solved by cutting foam for better ESC cooling.

PM me if you are interested in buying my heavily-repaired (but in flying-condition) Jetiger.
