    HET-RC Super Sniper

Almost done.... just need to find a suitable spot to house the Li-Po cells (once I get hold of c.g. info) and to mount the canopy.

    Setup:
    Wemotec 480 minifan
    Typhoon 2W-20 BL motor
Castle Creation Phoenix 45A ESC (mounted in duct)
    Polyquest 4s2p 1800XP
    HS56 Ailerons
    HS81 Elevator

Need some tips on the following...

    1) Suggested c.g.? I remember seeing someone's s.sniper in this forum. Can you kindly advise on the c.g. location? I don't remember whether the kit came with an instruction booklet containing the proposed c.g. location... or I might have misplaced the booklet.

    2) Throws for control surfaces?

    Thanks.

The C/G point is 90mm from the base of the leading edge of the wing.

    Elevator throws are as follows:
    High Rates: UP 8mm / DOWN 6mm
    Low Rates: UP 5.5mm / DOWN 4mm

    Aileron Throws:
    High Rates: LEFT/RIGHT 8mm / DOWN 6mm
    Low Rates: LEFT/RIGHT 6mm / DOWN 4mm

You can download the instructions here: http://www.rc-warbirds.com/product_i...roducts_id/355

Have you tried fitting the 4S LiPo already?
Can it fit in the narrow fuselage? Some guys had problems before as the pack was to thick and had to use 2x 2S1P instead.

Usual question When is the maiden

        Hi.

Eric: Thanks for the tip and the link to the manual. I am using 2s1p packs (total 4 packs). Intending to position a pack on each side of the fuselage (in the empty space between the duct and the fuse wall; c.g. location). The remaining 2 packs as well as the Rx will go into the nose and adjusted to achieve the correct c.g. point.

Ryan: Bungee will be the one sold by RC-Warbirds.

        Rgs,
        Mun

Got the liPos mounted, c.g at 90mm from root LE. Front packs adjustable to cater for changes in c.g. due to Rx which will go into the space between the front 2 Lipo packs (not shown in photo).

Canopy base is done as well. The base is positioned onto the fuse using the 5 short carbon rods and is held in place using rubber bands anchored to the fuse bottom.

Can anyone advice if I should disable BEC on my CC45 ESC and run a separate Rx batt pack? The ESC instructions says to disable BEC for anything more than 12 NiMH/NiCad (~14.4V). 4s Lipo is 14.8V...

Run a separate Rx pack if you can find space.
If not its better to do a full throttle range test before you fly the plane.
You don't want a glitch to kill such a nice and fast plane.

Yes, you definitely need to disable your BEC. 4S is to much and will burn your BEC through. 100% I tried it before

You can disable it either via SW (if your ESC has this option) or by removing the red wire from the ESC servo cable.

Instead of a separate pack (additional weight) you can use a UBEC such as this one: http://www.rc-warbirds.com/product_i...roducts_id/408

I use the same UBEC it in both my F-16 and Lip-20 and it is working great so far.

Thanks for the recommendations.... will see if i have space to shift the lipos for an extra Rx pack tonight or otherwise purchase a ubec.

hmmm....... 50/50?? Don't have much to finish up except to:
                          1) solder the connectors for the LiPos,
                          2) Paint the canopy base and gluing on the canopy,
                          3) Installing and mounting Rx
