Milling the carbon fin or carbon side frame

    HI Mike ,
i would like to try to mill the carbon fin or carbon side frame.
Wondering how to secure the carbon to the jig.
Do i need to bolt it down or clamp it?
I will be using a vertical milling m/c from my company doing moulding.
Any advice or picture will help.
I am only know the basic operation, hope to do it in my free time( Off day )

    Thanks

    Best Regards

Firstly, milling carbon material is hazardous, before attempting to work on this material, vacuum/ventilation system is advisable to be in place

For thin material, the usual way of holding down is to use a clamping kit. This kind of clamping system is design to clamp down thin and odd shaped material so that milling process can be carried out.

Else you may wish to make a "Jig" from a block of aluminium. Drill 2 mounting hole thru the carbon onto the block. Then secure w M3 screw and you clamp the entire block onto your vise. There you should be able to mill your way thru.
