This is the kyosho speedmaster. I think the age of this boat can only be determined by carbon dating... ...c that old kyosho logo?
I have been trying to find some info about the boat, but it is not even in kyosho's list of discontinued products..
The box is already disintegrating, fortunately the contents are still in acceptable condition, though some plywoods are a bit brittle and the plan is yellowish.
But I would consider this a top quality product by yesteryears standards. The boat is constructed entirely from plywood and hardwood, there is no balsa in the kit. It does'nt come with an instruction manual, but the plan has enough details, only that certain parts are not drawn to scale, e.g. the thickness of bulkhead is about 0.5cm but it is at least 0.8cm if measured from the plan.
A set of high quality stainless steel drive unit which includes the rudder is available for purchase separately, but it's for the original nitro setup, I didn't buy it since I am converting the boat to electric. In any case, I won't pay $50 for it as the boat is only $10...
So, this is to be my first speedboat... ....but won't be building it like an offshore racer, since it's an antique, will give it that classic wooden boat look...
