    NiMh charging???

    Hi guys. need some advice on charging NiMh rx pack.
    have the following packs and are using Estation BC6 for charging. I will like to know wat is the max discharge current(A) and max charge current(A). And about how many cycle of DisCH and CH is recommended.

    1100Mah
    1600mah
    1400mah

    All are 6v

    I realised if I charge my single cell 1.2V SubC 4800mAh NiMH for my glow starter, I can only charge at 0.4A which is about 0.1C. Any current higher it will false peak and the voltage goes up too quickly.

      I normally charge my AA or Sub C at 0.6A.So far I don have problem.

        I think most will recommand a max charge of 1amp for rx and tx batt packs. I usually charge at 0.5amp. For discharge, I just use them till they need charging again. However for BC6, the max discharge is 1amp and I think it should be ok to use 1amp to discharge.

          I charge not more than 0.8C, subjected to a max 1.0A charge rate and discharge at about 1.5C.

          I'll cycle till I get at least 80% of the rated amp in.
          For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

            After some testing, I realised that it's the connector which is giving the false peaks in my NiMH..... After changing them to deans or other higher quality connectors, I am able to push it past 1C and still 80% pushed in before peaking...

            I use micro deans for my smaller AA/AAA packs, so my switches has been converted to deans to accept the batts...

              Agreed that the lousy connectors are most probably the cause of false peaking. The other reason could be the small cables used. However, when it comes to Rx pack, we are pretty much stuck with the connectors and wires.
              For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

                Hi, I'm newbie here. Sailing only. I have pack of 5 x 2000mAh AAs using JR con. Which is the best and affordable charger I can use? Thanks.
