Proper way to dispose of batts

One of my lipo and nimh has gone bad. The lipo is bloated. And the nimh can't hold the charge anymore despite numerous cycling. So, it's time for them to go. Can anyone tell me how to properly dispose of those batts safety?

There used to have a company that will collect used batteries at the post office. (Singapore Post). That was 1-2 years ago. I am not too sure if they still do that.

Lipo, is quite easy to dispose.

Cut a slit on the pouch. I usually cut off one of the terminal to expose the internal. Dump it into some salt water, the pack will bubble, after two hours, the pack will be swollen, and it is safe to throw into the thrash.

nimh, discharge it and throw in the trash. Can't do that for Nicad
