    Duratrax ICE Charger

    Hi fellow members,
Any member having this charger? Like can do everything for EP. Thinking of investing on something good for long term.
    Any comments please?

    Thank you
    Vincent

Think you can do a search first...

For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

You can refer to my brief review in that thread.

If you want my further comments about ICE, it'll remain the same point of view after using it for so long liao...

Tacky & SHITTY scroll wheel, sucks big time...
Triton is better for no-fuss charging...
ICE got too many parameters to change and worry about b4 charging...
Graph features in ICE? I never bother to look at them...

If you are concerned about lipo charging only, go for the apache unless u need amp/hours monitoring...And the monitoring features sucks coz it tells u the time in seconds, not minutes!

ICE seems to be charging lipos better than Tritons...
Better in a sense, coz it's more accurate in estimating when your charge will be full.

Last comment, Triton is still a better overall-all-rounder charger.

Thank you for all the replies.

I go for ICE, for $10 more can get cycle for Ni type batteries and also break-in motors.
            Just placed ordered with bpp.

Triton can also cycle NiCD/MH type cells....Only advantage that ICE have is the programmable 'Step Charging', which requires u to buy a seperate Temp probe b4 the function will work.

Hope it's not too late to inform u this, I've tried motor break-in functions, and you need a very high ampere powersupply unit to perform that function properly.

Ok, must have missed it somewhere. Eyes got stamps.
Anyway order already comfirmed, no worry.

By the way, what is required from the power supply to do motor break-in on the ICE (Volts and Ampere).

i've tried 5amps supply to break in a 6v 400sized motor, and it doesn't seem enough....the break in process will always terminate during the first motor start up due to the current surge.

I dun have other current limiting ps unit, but the next PS unit i tried is 30amps and it dun have any problems.

not really... i have a sony one 12v 400watt with 34a out with half a size of a shoe box.... ultimately is to be use at home..... i can rig up my schulze 330-d and my duratrex ice togethet at one go.... is better to get one with bigger amps so you dun have to think of other charger that consume bigger amp if next time you want to change to a better charger... but the choice is your.... just an advice...
