    Triton charger with backlight

Trying to convert my triton charger to have backlight. Waiting for the LCD order confirmation from the supplier. If everything goes well, I could provide a service to convert the Triton with backlight.

Just want to do a survey that how many of you would be interested. The pricing is still not fixed yet, but it would be in the range $30~$40 including the labour cost + the replacement LCD.

This sounds useful to me ... doing charging most time in the dark

How is it gonna be turn on? Software?

Hmmmm ...... Anything below $29.90 will attract me

    Keep us posted

    Cheers

It is purely hardware, no software involved. The moment the Triton charger is powered up, you will be able to see the backlight. You won't be able to get anything less than $30 as I couldn't find a replacement locally, therefore the price of the component itself would be a bit costly + there will be quite amount of work for me to resolder all the wires.

Can you offer this for the Shulze ISL-330 as well ?
I have the backlit LCD but not the skills and guts to do the conversion.

Are you sure you have the correct backlit LCD replacement part (same in physical size) for your Shulze ISL-330 ? If you have, I could help you do the conversion at a labour cost of $15. If due to some reasons that I am not able to modify it then no charges will be imposed on you.

That would be soo cool! but spending that amount just for the backlight? hmm, would have to consider. I use a Trition too!

                How much it cost?
I'm interested if the price is reasonable.

Info on the backlit conversion for the ISL-330 can be found at the following links:

Schulze isl 6-330 LCD with backlight
                  Schulze ISL6-330d Modifications

I got the following lcd Seiko Instruments L1671B1J000 from here. I tried looking for the LCD at Sim Lim Tower but was not successful. That's why I ordered it online. You may have better luck.

I ordered the LCD with some other stuff from mouser.com and after conversion, cost me approx S$25+ for the LCD.

Given that a lot of charging takes place at night, I am really looking forward to getting the backlit LCD operational.

The replacement part will be come from US but not sure about the shipping cost and the lead time.

Currently, I am only planning to order 2 LCDs for testing purposes. If everything goes well, I would then do a mass order on the LCD after I have confirmed on the number of interested person for the Triton LCD conversion. Can't fix the price yet, the price will be cheaper if more people is interested to even out the shipping cost!

Be patient everyone, still waiting for the supplier to reply to me. Let me have my Triton charger converted with backlight first and then post the photo on this page. Then I will work out a reasonable price for everyone upon interested party ordering.

                          That's a good question!
The Tx LCD display is very customised, I don't think I could find a replacement on that. But I am still working on a solution where direct modified on the existing LCD. If it works, then any sort of display can modify with backlight without finding a replacement part. However, there would be a risk involved as the LCD could be permanently dead if it doesn't work.

Probably easily accomplished by using a ultra-brite white led..
juz stick it into the area and tap power from the main board/battery..
not the best but will work also..

This is front lighting, not backlighting..

Has initially tried with my Triton (similar of what you have thought above) but the effect doesn't work quite well, therefore I got the replacement part for my Triton to have backlight.
