    Triton and LiPo

My Triton seem to be taking forever to charge LiPos...
Although I set it at 1.7 for 1700, it kinda start at 0.2... peak at 1.7.. then gradually reduce to 0.1....

the whole process takes more than 2 hours... so much slower than my apache..

    Any work around?
    huh

sadly, no...that's why the last time in a post somewhere, I mentioned that the Apache is still a better Lipo charger than the Triton.

Triton's li-ion charging algorithm is like pulse charging....takes a long time to fully charge a drained lipo batt, and even if it did, it will not charge to full capacity.

In my last tests, lipo batteries claimed to be fully charged by triton will still be able to be charged by the Apache....

2 hours kinda too long, 70 min should be about the max. Is it same for all your lipos packs? Sometimes, it could be the charging leads causing feedback problems- leads too long, wire cross-section too small, or bad batt soldering causing high resistance.

it takes about 50 mins to pump 800mah into the cells.

anyway i dont drain them that much... on the etac 1700

10 mins on the hot point takes about 1000mah so avg 60mins for 2 packs is ok la.
i'm a rc sotong. And i know nuts about it.

My TRex drains 1500+ in 10 minutes.

not all are the same... 1 of them took 170+ minutes to charge,
the other 2 batts were about 90 minutes.

          Apache took about 70+ usually.
          huh

The Triton senses the batt voltage/resistance during charging. And the program is a very Kiasu type, lots of safety built into it. Try using a thicker charging cable about 2.5mm2 and not longer than 15cm.

The 170+ min pack, check the soldering and the wires. Something not right. This pack don't give as much punch compared to the other two.

I don't have experience with Apache, so cannot comment on it.

            Cheers

Thanks... actually the 170mm pack giving a longer flight time compared with the rest....
              huh

It gives longer flight time, but no punch.
