End of flight battery discharge for Lipo

Anyone can enlighten me about need to discharge the lipo at the end of a flight?

Usually what happens is that I have set the battery protection at the ESC to 65% default. When battery goes low, you can see the motor going high-low-high-low for a couple of seconds, and sometimes can hear soft beeping from ESC.

Battery is usually warm by now.

    Question:
    1) Do I have to continue to discharge it slowing, e.g. slow rev?
    2) Do I simply let it cool down and recharge at the next convenient point?
    3) Does the Align Balance Charger have a discharge function? (Why I ask this is sometimes charging is 1hr, sometimes 1.5hr before all cells are green. Suspecting that it took the extra 0.5hr to discharge the cells if not already done so)

    Give me your 2 cents.

    Many thanks in advance!

    SonicBoom,

Don't discharge your Lipo fully, not good to do so. u don't need to discharge and charge your lipo unless u want to test the batt capacity.

Should store Lipo at about 15 to 25% capacity.

Check out the thread "Understanding your lipo"

    Cheers

The Align balance charger only charge all the cells at the same level.

Will it charge the pack if one or more cells are not the same?

What if my lipo got 10 mins flight time, but flew only 5 min then got to pack and go. Should I then:

          a) go back, recharge
          b) go back, drain by running low rev then recharge
          c) continue with flight the next week

What's the best way to store lipo? Charge fully and store or discharge and store?

I would say none of the above.

Can't tell for sure how much juice u got left in the pack after 5 min. Check the voltage, most lipo batt comes from the factory are at 50% charge state, and it is about 3.8 to 3.9v.

Secondly, try not to use half charge pack, the LVC may detect the pack wrongly and set the cutoff accordingly and causes u to overdischarge your pack.

            Cheers
