    Question about ESC with auto-sense

    Hi electronic experts...

Here's a question that is puzzling me.
I have recently acquired a JES020, which is giving me some prob... (unsure if it is the culprit yet..)

But anyway... when I read the specs...
it says, JES020 autosense the number of LiPos that I am using.
2 Cell, it will cut at 5.2V
3 Cells, it will cut at 8V

For a fully charge 2cell, it will be about 8.4 V... will the ESC be dumb enuff to think it is 3 cell and cut the power at 8V?!?!?!

I am getting a little suspecious about this because, the power cuts just love to occur with my fully charged up 2S2P, or a rested 2S2P with minimal power drain. And the ESC doesn't give prob after a few power losts (i.e. a cell which I fly for a while), till I plug a another fresh cell in.

Each power lost can be recovered by a reset.. i.e. giving it a zero throttle. I don't seem to have lost the controls to my plane... the servos were responding fine, even when power to motor is cut.

Anyone using JES020 face this problem?
    huh

    Dunno wat ESC is that...

But i think u better try another ESC to see if really the ESC is the culprit of ur prob..
Lipos supposed to stop at 3V/cell..

Any lower and it goes quite dangerous to overdischarging ur cells...
5.2V = 2.6V/cell which is seriously low lor..

The way u describe, it's my guess it's the auto-sensing culprit..

That is why I don't really like the idea of auto detect for cell count. I use CC brushed ESC with manual program for cut off which give me confidence in the cut off voltage. This is important especially for lipo cell , whereby overdischarge means dead battery for good. On the other hand you can always limit the flight time to prevent over discharge.

Not that bad lar... it ain't that expensive as a CC, and I can still use it for 3S.... or maybe as a BEC...
            huh
