    AA batt charging tray.

    Hi,

I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a good 8-cell charging tray for AA batts.

Currently using the cheapo plastic trays from SLT and find that the batts cannot be charged to their maximum capacity. I suspect the thin wire and lousy connection plays a part.

The charging jack in my MX3 Tx is not much better either.

    Thanks!
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

I have been using those and they're fine....of course, charging 8 cells together will not get the best result as compared to charging individual cells because of the tolerence levels of the combined voltage....so at a combined 8cells pack, the chances of getting false peaking is so much higher.

Some of the cells may have lower/higher resistance because they may not be equally discharged, etc....Another option is to parallel the cells instead of putting them in series, but the charging time would definitely go longer.

Sometimes i do a 4x2 parallel charging config, which yields slightly better results.

Hmmmm......I've been charging and discharging the 8 cells together as a set since new so I assume there's not much variation between the cells.

Might want to try out the 4 x 2 configuration.

I also discovered that fasle peak always happens when I charge at 1C, so I'm currently charging them at the lowest setting, ie 0.5mAh. However, I've read that NiMh batts are best charge at 1C.

Best result is by using the detachable battery tray from my Losi Mini-T Tx. The contact points are more solidly built and I get full charge most of the time. However, I can't use the tray all the time as I need to use the Tx too...

      Thanks for your input bro!
