Request for review on CG335 pro

    Hi,

I'm about to get a cheaper, budget charger for field use, and doesn't want to spend a lot on hi-end chargers.

Anyone have comments on the Hitec CG-335pro field charger?

Need to know how much the charger can do with a 3amps DC supply, and how reilable is the chrager on the 'delta-peaking' for NiMh batts?

Any comments are welcomed before I head down to grab it tomm...

    Thanks!

Okay, i shall give a review instead...

CG335pro is a simple charger...plug and go into the field for charging.
Cables not included except for a pair of croco clips. I had to make my own rx charging cables.

      3 charging source:-
4-24cell output with varible charging current.
1.2v 1100mah output for charging glow starters
4.8v 500-250mah charging for RX packs.

65min auto cutoff to save your car/SLA batts from too much draining.

Current draw to charge any pack is equiv. to the current draw from the source battery. Ie. if I charge a receiver pack at 500mah, the current draw from the source batt is also 500mah. Very interesting DC-DC step up/down transfer technology.

the Charger's self-current drain should be about 100mah or less because my resolution of the current meter is only to 100mah accuracy. Seems like a very efficient charger.

Bad thing about it is the 65min auto cut off too.....because of that, I cannot choose to slow charge a pack without having to restart the charging after 65mins.

Picture shows the Hitec logos as heatsink, but actual unit are just with normal heatsinks!

My final words for this charger:- only good for quick charging in the field, which was the main reason why i need it. For more powerful charging and battery maintaince chargers, go for the better ones...

Yucks! The CG335 Pro likes to false peak the main output when I charge my glow starter at it's charging port at the same time!

Initially I had bought it for the purpose of field charging....so as you know, field usage is always rough and get scratched, banged about, kena grass, dew, sand, grit, etc...

I wasn't prepared to bring out a $200+ charger out to the field...so I was just looking for a cheaper alternative...

At home, I've got my trusty Speed EX14pro Nicad/NiMH charger and a seperate Apache 2500 lipo charger to serve me.

Also dun like the idea of an all-in-one coz you can't charge many types of batts at the same time.
