    Help with AC/DC Expert charger

    Hi, just bought an ABC hobby expert charger, same one as arthur has. Only problem is it came with japanese instructions.... Anyone willing to tell me how to use this would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know from the basics from the switch positions, to start button and what setting i would use for a 1500mah pack as pictured.
    Thanks so much

    devin..you should set the mah to 1.5a...that'll be a 1C charge...ready in an hour....when you power up the charger..it'll do a countdown/self test and then you'll need to press the red button...

    the leds on the charger indicates different things....

    orange = discharge
    Green = trickle charge
    Red = fast charge

    Press once....trickle charge charge starts
    Press once more....red comes on and fast charge...or
    press once more...orange and red together....Discharge first then fast charge....ie : cycling...

    all charges from red led will go to trickle charge....ie..green led...

    you can email them for a english manuel..they'll gladly send you a copy

      Top LED is discharge
      Middle LED is trickle charge
      Bottom LED is Fast charge.

      Press the red button to activate the correct mode.
      The are 5 modes available. Pressing the button multiple times will cycle through all the modes.

      The knob is to adjust the charging current for fast charge.

      Trickle charge is at 0.11 A, - no need adjust the knob.. it has no effect on the current.

      To fast charge.. press the button until you see ONLY the red LED blinking. Adjust the current accordingly. For that batt u have.. it is ok to go between 1A-1.5 A. So adjust the knob accordingly.

      During fast charging, it will charge for around 50 sec, then stop for 10 s to let the batts cool.

      To discharge/cycle, press red button till you get the discharge LED and EITHER the trickle LED or Fast LED blinking together. It will automatically charge using trickle or Fast once the batt is completely discharge.

      It is normal to see the display showing less number of cells until the minimun voltage is reached.

      The fuse used is a 7.5 A car fuse. Can get spares from car workshop.

      That's about all I can remember.. the rest.. need to see that piece of paper to figure it out again.
      huh

                            They higher the current.. the hotter the batt. NiCad ok lar... but NiHm.. the ABC charger don't cool it enough... so I can't get it fully charge when current is >0.5 C... :-(
