Is there any way to mount a prop saver on the front of this motor(Note the picture is from the net and is only for illustration purpose) ? The shaft is a threaded shaft. I know that the correct way is remove the front threaded shaft and then reverse the inner motor shaft. However, my motor does not allow shaft reversal.

Thus, does anyone know of a way to mount a prop saver system on this kind of threaded shaft? Or a prop saver system without reversing the inner motor shaft?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi AGM,

With a motor that big, I really suggest you either just screw the prop in with the nut in the threaded side or get a prop adapter if you want to use the shaft on the other end. Most probably you will be spinning a big heavy prop with a motor of that size and the rubber band on the prop saver may not be able to hold back all the torque generated by motor/prop.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Adnan

      hi AGM.

that is really a very big motor.

can I ask what is your level of experience in RC?

you can either get a prop adaptor or the threaded shaft fits a nut that you can secure the prop on.

What plane are you running it in?

I hope you are not a newbie without any piloting experience.

Thanks randomtask for your response. However, my motor is not the one shown in the picture. The picture is just to show the threaded shaft. My motor is a KD A22 15m from *********. The newer productions of this model does not allow shaft reversal. I would like to spin a 9x5HD GWS prop on a prop saver.

Using the shaft on the other end is an option, but I will have mounting issues on my aircraft

to use the outrunner as show in the pic, you are firewall mounting the motor. The attachment on the bell (with the threaded shaft) is usually 4to5mm for 22xx sized motor. It is uncommon to mount a propsaver on such shafts...

instead, you should try to move the original 3mm shaft such that it pertrudes from the bell. You will need to removed the C-clip at the base (where the motor leads are) and unscrew the grub screw at the bell. It may not be easy as mnf usually also apply threadlock at the bell end of the shaft.

          Hope this helps.
