    Hi Joe

OK I suppose. I seldom build these days. I got stuck 2/3 into a Brain Taylor DH Mosquito project and it somewhat got the better of me when it came to the flaps. Guess I tried to bite off more than I could chew.

I hope to find the inspiration to get back to building airplanes one day. Meantime I am flying ARTF (sacrilege).

    Regards

Eekin, the blue clamps were from Carrefour but haven't seen them lately. I have seen them in DIY stores, and a friend gave me some small clamps. The stores probably have the larger ones. If I come across them again, I'll put a post up for you. The yellow clamps were from a hobby store in the US.

      Thx tsunami

Here's the latest on the covering. Must get back into the hang of covering open wings and fuselages. Stil have the top of the wing and ailerons. Just slow getting to it. That's all.

Not quite as well as I expected. It's a bit more fragile at this size for monokote. Don't have too much exposure to the other brands yet. Might be a good question to ask which is easier to work with, and.... durable. I've got a few monokotes that seem to have lasted 10 years.

Anyhow, the wing tips and the hollow vertical stabilizers are a little messy. Will forego the insignia for now and get it flying first I think. Getting lazy..... (my excuse is weight).

              Linkages for smaller electrics

Here's where I'm at for the moment. Haven't touched the plane for a week.

What do you guys use for linkages or pushrods for planes these size?
I have a small carbon rod and a light piano wire shrink-wrapped.
Is there something easier to work with?

And what do you use at the end to the servos and control horns? (2 z-bends?)
              Which sequence would you follow?
(normally, it's easier with an adjustable clevis or an adapter on the servo horn to make trims)

                ...
The mini-stick ARF version came with small carbon push-rods, and short lengths of z-bended piano wire. So, both ends, servo and control horn, were attached with the z-bends. Proper length adjustment for servo neutral was done, then the piano wire z-bends were CA'ed to the carbon push-rod, with heatshrink to further secure it.

But I've also used standard piano wire, ard 1mm diameter to make the connection to the rudder. It works well. Z-bend secures to the servo, and L-bend secures to the servo horn. Quite easy to get the length correct, and little bit of sub-trim gets it spot-on. Then a little drop of CA at the end of the L-bend to prevent it from slipping out at the most inconvenient times!

Thanks FK. The L bend suggestion helps. Will give it a go with the rudder and elevator. Might try to work the EZ connectors for the aileron, in case I screw up with the z bend placements.

Hope for the maiden this weekend.

Old post - Moderator, can we move this to RC Builds?

Anyhow, have finally done the linkage and tested the movements, balance, etc. Not sure what else am missing. Been so long building, let alone flying! Any last minute checklists? Small plane with little space. Need to move to the OK Models Piper J-3 next so it's less figuring steps, and more following the instructions for a change.
