Build log: Mini Ugly Stick - hopefully this flies

It's a bit embarrassing as this was supposed to be an example of a quick build and my attempt to actually fly what I build.

A wise flier told me to keep it simple, and not complicate the build, not to mention something easy to fly.

However, it's nearly a year now and I haven't completed the darn thing! (just looked at the photos and the dates on it)

So, here it is and probably no need to mention where the kit came from (and how cheap it was)....

    Hey man,

May I know where you got this kit?

It's that site where the initials / abbreviation is the same as the country it's from.

If you Google it, am sure it will show up as well.

Kit came slightly damaged but nothing a little glue wouldn't solve.
Also decided to try using white glue / PVA instead of CA.
Never had the patience to try so, why not....

Some test fitting of the parts without the glue.
Note, no plans or instructions came with it.

              And the wings.
This white glue thing is quite something if you have the time and patience.
              Am learning....

Test fit and it's looking good. Needs some tweaks for a better wing fit. And on to sanding and no point getting pictures of that.

Will get back again once the linkages are tested, and there's some progress on covering.

I bought 4 of this kit and my student built one of them. It didn't fly but it was mainly due to his workmanship.

Thanks Joe... this really helps my confidence of getting something simple back in the air.

How did the plane turn out?

Just spent a little time fitting the wing and tail.
Am going to use your suggested hinging method with the covering.

Hey Chin Poh, yes... trying to finish this ultra simple kit but just fighting other priorities. Inspiration's not necessarily there either given the type of plane. Anyhow, need to get something in the air soon. Am already sure the my currency is totally off!

Eekin, the blue clamps were from Carrefour but haven't seen them lately. I have seen them in DIY stores, and a friend gave me some small clamps. The stores probably have the larger ones. If I come across them again, I'll put a post up for you. The yellow clamps were from a hobby store in the US.

                          David

I think that is a good plan. Finish it off quickly and fly it. The Ugly stick is a good and capable flyer.

We lost our flying site at Tanjong Tokong. These days we fly off Polo Ground. The old gang is still intact.

                          Regards
