    IC,...

That is why I am still stuck with Foamies EDF jet...

No intention of getting balsa jets, too costly for setting up.

Crash already also difficult to repair..

By the way, your video does not work..:

Mr Frankie will be very glad to see a video of HET F-18 flying.

        Hi guys,

just a quick comment from me:

The HET F-18 is available in 3 versions.
        • The balsa version for a single 70mm fan (as referred to in this thread)
        • The composite F-18 for 2x 70mm fan
        • The composite F-18 for single 90mm fan.

The manuals for all versions can be downloaded from the support section of our webpage: http://www.rc-warbirds.com/index.php/cPath/79
        Simply follow the download description.

The CG for the balsa F-18 as stated in the manual is correct and the plane flies very well with these setting.

The max flying weight of the Balsa, single 70mm fan F-18, would be 1.4-1.5 kg. This however assumes a large capacity 4S setup.
A typical setup would end up at around 1.3kg.

Unless you manage to fill all remaining space of the model with lead or manage to squeeze 2kg of batteries into the plane I do not see a chance to get the plane to a weight of 3kg.
The much larger composite F-18 with 90mm Fan, retracts and 8S batteries just tops the 3kg mark....

Compared to a foamy the plane naturally fells heavy. Don't be fooled

Regarding the fan: the balsa F-18 is designed for a 70mm Fan. Please only use a good 70mm fan with a motor generating at least 400 watt. Smaller fans will not work optimally and leave you with a bad flying plane.

Bungee launch would be the safest method to get the plane into the air.
As shown in the videos (thanks for the videos Edmond), hand launch is also possible if you have someone who knows how to throw the plane straight and level.

Another point I would like to mention:
I hear once in a while that flyers use HET EDF Motors (or other high power EDF motors) and bloat their lipo packs when using them. Hence, please make sure that you use the correct battery size for your motor.

        As an example:
The HET 2W motor for a 3S Lipo requires a battery that can deliver 55A. This is what the motor pulls at full throttle in a 70mm Fan unit.
A 1800mAh 25C pack which can deliver only 45A under best conditions will naturally overheat and get damaged.

You can always drop us a note at sales@rc-warbirds.com if you have questions in regards to power combinations for your EDF Jets.
        We are happy to help.

Looks like my quick comment became quite long at the end….

        A happy national day !!
        Eric
