Making wing with cheap 5mm compressed foam - part 2

As I have shown how to make a slowflyer wing with 5mm compressed foam material. Now would like to share how I fold a wing with the same material.

    1) Get the wing panel template cut out and transfer to the foam as usual ,cut and tape just like the slow flyer wing.

    2) Score along the center of the upper and lower wing panel with a fork. Same apply to 1/4 down the wing panel like in the slow flyer wing.

    3) Cut and sand the tailling edge of the wing panel (thin down to about 2mm thick)

    4) Start to fold along the center line, with help of curve surface to prevent crack.

    5) Apply 30 min epoxy (thin coat) along the tailling edge and fold the wing panel together and let it set over night

    6) Insert wood or carbon rod to the wing core to hold the wing profile.

    The wing is almost complete

    Installation of aileron

    1) Measure and cut out the aileron from wing.

    2) Shape the aileron as shown for smooth movement

    3) Install hinge material to aileron and wing

    4) Check to ensure aileron align with the center line of the wing

    5) Check for movement, equal on both side.

Just beware that the foam material at Artfxxxxd at Taka might not be 5mm. I got 2 and found out that they were actually 6mm. Now having a 'hard' time bending them.

            bro loyn.. very very informative
            got question tho..
            1) after the wing folded, the fork's scoring mark will be facing in or out?
seen from the pic.. it seems folded in..
            2) can we left a carbon rod inside the folded wing for strengthen it or wing tape should be enough?
            3) lastly.. where u bought these colorful wing tape from?

            thank you for sharing

                  To ans your Qs

                  1) The score mark is inside.

                  2) Yes you can put the carbon rod inside the wing for strength and to keep wing profile. I found thick (> 3mm) carbon rod or tube is on the heavy side for small wing. Hence I use cheap hard wood instead.

                  3) ArtfrXXXd but some other pachaging material shop do sell them too.

Thank guys and happy to know you find it useful

Hi Loyn. Like the hinges that U made for the wing. Very neat . Seen it for myself at the field that day. The same question : I suppose U can add a dihedral like the way U mentioned it previously ?

I thought it's more like 2 pcs of 3mm laminated together.

but it looks thicker on one side. dunnoe. Logic tells me it is 2 3mm cuz artfrXXXd now sells 3mm foam but my eyes tell me the 2 sheets are of different thickness!
