    Hi Bro

My 2 cents for tx I have tried

For recommendation popularity will go for spectrum Dx7s or Dx8, you could also get oranhe reciever which is very cheap

    Futaba is not bad either

JR quality is good but receiver is expensive

for buddy to fly there is a group flying in Punggol area every weekdays 5-7pm and they r very help
for sat and sunday, there is also a group fly at Tampinese ave 5
they r all good bros and willing to help

Previously was using Futaba 9CHP. Very old tx.
After that, I switch to Hitec Aurora 9.

One thing I like about Hitec is that... it is quite reliable. Its Receivers is also cheaper than Futaba. Bottom line is that.. Aurora is cheap and good.

I m currently using JR 11x, its a DSM2 Tx and I m very happy of that; it has JR quality as well as Specktrum popularity. Beside flying the bigger heli, I can even fly those BNF BLADE micro heli for practice

I will leave Hitec Aurora out of the list. It has no proper single line data RX or satellite RX. This will limit your setup a lot, such as not being able to uilise the governor function of a vbar mini, and possibly other FBL systems too. There is also the upgrade Aurora 9x, and that is already behind the competition when it's not even released yet.

JR XG8 is a good radio, just not widely supported so it may be hard and very expensive to get DMSS rx for it.

IMHO DX8 has been tainted by QC and buggy firmware in the past, do check on the later production models to see if the kinks have been worked out (to me they still need improvement). We also do not have the presence of a Horizon Hobby repair center here in SG if anything happens.

So that leaves Futaba T8J going at $350 approx. A better buy would be a second hand 8FGS from the forum for $400 or even cheaper as people upgrade to the T14SG.

A radio is the one and only link connecting a pilot to his model. Splurge on it before anything else.

Actually the new Futabas and Spektrums should be good and reliable enough. Unless you're a "pro" user, e.g. using all the advanced heli or glider-specific features, then even the basic 7 or 8 channel ones will already be more than sufficient. Once your flying skills are up to it, exact TX model does not matter anymore as long as the link is reliable.

Personally I still use "obsolete" TXs, the Spektrum DX7 and Futaba 9CHP - and it's still not lacking.

The Futaba is good in the sense that it accepts plug-in modules, allowing flexibility of choosing 2.4GHz system, and now even Hobbyking offers an "Orange" DSM 2 module for it... this is a feature you may want to consider.

Spektrum dx7 for me since 2008. Never saw the need to upgrade but heart leaning to 14sg.
