I am getting a new transmitter and want to step away from jr and spektrum. the two tx that cought my eye is the futaba t8j and the hitec A9. the futaba t8j is only $338! incredible price! but one draw back is its case quality...the batt cover is crap, some misalignment here and there...easy to program with the joystick. the hitec A9 is another $100 more than the t8j but it is touch screen! the case feels very solid, the rubber grip pads on the sides also makes the A9 much comfortable to hold esp with my constantly sweaty palms...t8j is really just flat and smooth on both sides. Now, nothing is perfect...i simply hate that piece of wire hanging out at the back or the A9, nothing to do with performance, just looks like crap.
futaba t8j:
8 channels
quite easy to program
S-fhss compatible with fhss (how reliable)
runs on 4 AA batts
s-bus
simple receivers
2 internal antennas
cannot update anything
the case quality not quite fantastic
cheap! only $338! rx quite cheap also.
hitec A9:
9 channels
touch screen!
afhss (adaptive, how reliable?)
runs on nicd
receivers with 'boda' anteanas (troublesome)
the module has a wire connected to the anteana EXTERNALLY (yucks)
can update tx, rx, module
telemetry (i have no need for this...but nice to have)
eh.....$440 uh...kinda ex. rx is around the same price as t8j
these are just some things i know about the two tx...seems like both have good and bad points.
i am totally new to hitec and futaba. i fly mostly 3d, dlg and parkflyers. i want to get a system that will not give me any glitches or temporary lost of controls...also i want it to be good for the next 5 years or so...do help me make this decision! and anyone out there facing the same problem.
thanks in advance for any contributions. if have any experience with hitec or futaba (good or bad) do share!
