Please stop all FPV activities in Singapore

I was told that IDA went down to CD field yesterday evening with some scanners to check is anyone flying FPV.
The IDA personnel said FPV is affecting Changi Airport and they also said they know the brand/make of car that one of the FPV flyers is driving.

I believe it is because the FPV’s frequency and especially the high power output is affecting communications in Changi Airport. As Singapore is very small, if FPV is affecting Changi Airport, it may also affect other aerodromes in Singapore if an FPV is flying near an aerodrome.

For those who were present at CD field yesterday evening, please share with us what you were told by the IDA personnel.

I was there. Spoke to them.

The official was polite about it. He mentioned that it is important that FPV flying be stopped and he was serious about it. It was serious enough by the looks of the equipment they were packing. They had a big van with a dome on top obviously scanning the air for signals. Because flying objects are in direct line of sight with Changi Airport, the FPV signals were seriously affecting their equipment. He mentioned dates and times when the signals occured. He even had information about locations of the alleged occurences. He asked flyers to look out for FPV equipment especially one with a monitor of some kind like an LCD monitor; the rcer was flying with an LCD monitor and advised the party involved to stop flying with FPV equipment. I strongly urge those involved to heed their kind advice.
Go back in one piece to fly another day.

Yes it is my friend. I know someone in Changi Air Traffic Control who asked me if I knew anything about FPV flying and who was flying FPV in PFW because they apparently triangulated the signal source coming from there.
The frequency in use is affecting their radar tracking of passenger aircraft or something to that effect.

                  Wow, this is serious.

Since Singapore is very small and the FPV has a long range of a few kilometres, the FPV plane can fly to any area or any direction. Furthermore even if the FPV is not in direct path of the aeroplanes it's omni antenna is transmitting in 360degrees and may get into the RF path of the aeroplanes.

And that is only for Changi Airport. There are other airports/air bases in Singapore. We just need to pull out a Singapore map and draw circles of at least 5KM range around all the aerodromes in Singapore and you can see that there is no airspace to fly FPV.

I personally like FPV and envy those overseas videos of FPV planes flying over mountains. However Singapore is simply too small for us to fly FPV.

Now that it is a fact that FPV in Singapore is affecting the safety of real aeroplanes in the air and the authorities are searching for FPV flyers, for everyone's safety both in the air and on ground and to preserve our limited flying sites, we appeal to all FPV flyers in Singapore to stop their FPV activities. If we see a fellow flyer fly FPV, it is also our duty to inform the FPV pilot(s) to stop.

Can you share more details about this incident? Time and exact location. No one that we knows flies FPV in PFW at the regular time we fly and quite frankly, because we are working to become a flying club, we do not support FPV activities at PFW because of its close proximity to aerodromes. We went to some lengths talking to many authorities to allow our flying activites. Thanks for letting us know.

                    To all FPV flyers:
If there are FPV activities in PFW (which I found pretty weird considering it is quite hard to sneak a FPV flight without any regular PFW flyer noticing), I would like to acquainted with those responsible. PLEASE STOP, you will cause a lot of PFW flyers dissappointments if you get into trouble and get that field banned. I am sure a lot of us do not appreciate the sneaky FPV flight at PFW if you managed to do just that all these while.
Stop looking for a gyro in my plane, they are all in the head.

Yes, I agree with Edmond, please share with us info on this incident as I believe the PFW flyers do take responsibility for the safe conduct of RC on their 'turf'.

Could you ask your friend for the time, date and exact location (as there are also other RC flyers at other locations nearby) ...pretty sure, they'll conduct an investigation to weed out anyone who is not complying.

...All of a sudden, all the FPV threads go quiet ! ...bet all those who posted their 'achievements' there are now regreting it !

About a month back I was on the way home and as usual, I would look towards the field to see anybody flying. This was about 4pm. I spotted a land rover and a sport car. I decided to turn in have and have a look. As I drove in closer, I saw they had a equipment box with 2 LCD monitors and some equipment inside the box. I do not own a FPV and have no idea what those equipment were for. I SMS Edmond and he called me to ask those guys not to fly FVP at PFW.

I recognized the owner of the land rover as the nice young man who helped a number of people who had their car stuck in Tuas during the Scale Competition.

Anyway I spoke to this guy to tell him that he not suppose to fly FPV at PFW as it was close to Paya Lebar airport. He claim he didn't know PLA was nearby. Maybe it was my fault as I told him if he want to FPV do it discretely cause when I drove in I could see he was flying a FPV. I told him that since he had a big car, he should leave the base station inside his car and it will not be too obvious.

Looking back when I heard the news from Plug&Fly I didn't know that FPV signal effected Changi Airport. I always thought that aerial photography/video was illegal due to security reason but didn't realised the signal can effect ATC.

I do hope those guys who are into FPV take heat of the seriousness of this situation. Singapore is not a place for FPV.

                            FPV = First Pilot View.
It enable pilot to be in the cockpit of his plane and with some upgrading to his equipment, he able to fly his plane beyond sight. If you some of the passed forum, some have even flown 3 - 5km away.

Why help others wipe their backside after they sh!t???

Just point the authorities to this forum and RcGroups forum. Let them request the IP address of those nicks from the admin and let them slowly pick out the flyers. I dont think they will kena any jail term, maybe from warning letter to fine and confiscate of equipment.
