Is a Spektrum DX7i the same as JR DSX7?

    Hi guys,

I am a newbie to RC heli and is looking at getting my first proper radio tx. My current one is an Esky 0406A that came with my HBK2. U bet it su*ks!

I am currently building my first proper 325 blade class heli and is sold on going 2.4Ghz for a radio set. My budget is around SGD 300 - 600 and I have short listed the Spektrum DX7i. But while browsing through an China online retailer today, I came upon a JR DSX7 and it looked just like the DX7i and considerably cheaper too.

Thus my question does anyone know if they are really the same thing? Perhaps OEM and branded differently for different markets? I just hope I am not con into parting SGD400 for a shoddy chinese imitation.

Any kind info on this is much appreciated. Thank you

    Regards,
    Bert

Even on JR website there is no such radio.
    Spektrum has a DX7 but no DX7i
    I own a DX6i also from Spektrum but it's only a 6-channel radio.

So please be careful where you order such things from.

There is a JR DSX7 launching soon (Oct in Taiwan). Found the following info:

        DSX7 Combo:
        *DSX7 Transmitter
        *R721 Receiver
        *ES539 Servox3
        *JR 600mA 9.6V TX Battery

As for Spektrum DX7i, I think the TS probably meant DX7.

I've heard Taiwan does not allow 2.4Ghz in their country, dunno how true it is.

Thanks Nacar, Jansonfinn, Lplate and Art2!

My mistake I meant the Spektrum DX7. Anyway after hearing what Nacar have said it kinda give me some reassurance that it is not a dodgy product. Cos like the others I cant seem to find it on the manufacturer's website too.

So I have placed my order and will be getting it this weekend. It cost approx. SGD400 + SGD6 for shipping in China. Will keep you guys posted when I receive it.

Best Regards nad happy flying mates!

yah. Cost is the main reason I chose it. The purchase of my beam E4 have burnt a deep hole in my pocket so i am looking for one in the mid price range.

                  Price in China

                  Spektrum DX7 with 1 x AR7000, 4 x DS821, 1 x Ni-Mh 9.6V/1500 mAh batt + charger = SGD 565.00

                  JR PROPO DSX7 with 1 x RD721+EA101 , 3 x DS539, 1 x 1500 mah9.6V NiMH batt + charger = SGD 408.00

My only concern now is that hopefully it has the same user interface as DX7 as there is really zero online help regarding programming a DSX7. Keeping my finger crossed.

Wow, the DSX7 is really a price to beat. Puts me into consideration on buying a DX7 now. Do keep us updated on your new JR DSX7

I dont know if the moderators here objects to posting it here? So I drop you a PM. I'm not sure if they will ship out of China. You can contact them dircet to find out.
