An Indian discovered that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the
computer which can be named as 'CON'. This is something pretty
cool...and
unbelievable... At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this
happened!

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type 'Bush hid the facts' (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want..
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

is it just a really weird bug? :-??

im not expert in OS development.. but con is an output device in microsoft windows (shortform for console) ..
one wld do "echo hello_world > con" to get the msg "hello_world" to be displayed onto the monitor.. or "echo hello_world > com1" to get the msg send across serial COM port 1 .. or "echo hello_world > filename.txt" to get the msg into file filename.txt

so to prevent the ambiguiity of sending to file or device, i think the OS prevents creation of file with same name as those devices

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\DOS Devices

try creating folder "prn", "com1" too

er.. not too sure how true is the source.. dont think micosoft cant answer that
