    Erm...,Somewhat yes, i'm part of SPAVC ,singapore poly aviation club. So we people (mainly me and another guy call glendon) will go around helping students fix up planes and electronics , bringing them to hobbyshops to teach them what and what not to get. (eh, can say we are rc-tour guides)
    On our free time ,free of charge. We do this for the sake of having fun,fun and more fun So far we've sucessfully helped one team completed their 2nd year midsemester module, a small extra 300 that can takeoff and land,initially they are given 6months to complete before dateline, we came in and completed in 2days ...lol, and they got a A of course.

    and now 3 projects on hand for the FYP students.

    1) Skyblade UAV ~4mwingspan
    2) global hawk 5m wingspan
    3) flying wing 3m wingspan

    ... but its their FYP project so i'm not helping them entirely ,maybe about 1% of the effort is by me. when i have nothing to do at home i drop by Singapore poly and help them out give them tips and suggestions and mostly electronic soildering and stuffs... beside i'm studying electronics engineering now .

    Ok pictures of the flying blackknights as promised , once again sorry for the blurred picture, my camera shutter rate is so slow during the evening..

        I'd rather give you my F-16 plans then build one for you so you can learn the building techniques and how to hotwire foam. Then next time you can make many many many many duplicates of the F-16 anytime you want without buying from shops or asking people making for you, ... sounds great huh...

        Crash, repair, if cannot repair, throw away, build another one! and i've been doing that snice i started this hobby. 90% of my money went to electronic equipment for the planes 10% will be the cost of the building materials.

              Sorry!..My F-16 plan is just a piece of majong paper (see picture) wait till i get it into dwg or pdf format then i can start sharing it.

              Yes, there are hotwire machines out there, i don't know the price or where to get them but i do know singaporepoly workshop have many!

              ************************************************** *******************
              Ok, anyway new updates on my F-16.

              Now my F-16 has a pilot! and added lighting system inside the cockpit, Greed Led some resistors and a couple of thin singlecore wires to do the trick.

              I tap the current from the lipo connecting to the esc,500ohm resistors to limit the voltage from frying the LED.

              Looks cool dosen't it? I'll try flying with that thing the cockpit light on in the evening again!

                    [QUOTE=viper1990;349422]

                    1) My building plan is drawn out on a piece of majong paper, so if you have any method of photocopying that size of paper and upsizing it let me know. I guess we need those industrial size photocopying machines and printer. Or get someone to transfer these plans into Autocad, i'm not really good at using it.

                    2) Where are we going to do the construction of the plane? workshop?

                    3) The material i suggest is to switch to blue foam or depron because of its higher strength then normal stryofoam.
                    Or we can fibreglass the normal stryofoam so it's strong and light. Either way will work.
                    i'm afraid the normal foam would collapse under the 1.4kw of power and weight.

                    HI! Viper,

                    The plan will be print out in A4 size paper and will be joining them together as one big pics. As for the plan I got it last night already at the internet and will try to enlarge the plan asap to you once done it might come up to 600 to 700 times bigger than normal 100% on the plan. Check me again Viper, the Falcon is 144cm by 69cm correct right?

                    Most of the time I did my planes home or in the company warehouse before work & lunchtime

                    Material suggest to used, I guess blue foam or depron(Not sure do they have the kind of thicknest?) stryofoam I got a few big blocks, we'll see how it go.........

                      Thx!! one step closer to the real F-16

                      As for the pilot...i found it in my clubhouse. Must have been bought a long long long time ago and nobody uses it so i just took it with me.

                        My original plan is 94.5cm in length and 64cm wingspan, the figures i gave to you was my rough estimate because i didn't did a proper calculation.

                        Ok maths time...Right now my f-16 wingloading is 17.6/0.77ft sq = 22oz/ft sq ,So, having your twin wemotec (around 200g) /4s 3850mah batt (400g) / 2 80A esc (200g) and the airframe weight and wiring in the same plane would be like approx.. 35oz/0.77ft sq = 45.5oz/ft sq

                        So i recalculated back to achieve back the same wingloading it'll be 1.413 times bigger, So.. The upsized plan is 133cm in length and 90cm wingspan.

                        I've actually just upsized the plan by 1.4 times inorder to accomodate the second edf and the other reason is to keep the wingloading around the same.Just to play safe and easy for handlaunch.

                        As for the materials i saw the price at ARTfriend.
                        2inch x 3ft x 2ft white foam cost $6++
                        2inch x 3ft x 2ft blue foam is around $19++
                        And also if i'm not wrong those are the biggest size i can find there.

                          Oooo, didin't see your post until today...

                          Anyway..

                          Foam is from ARTfriend at brasbasah or taka at orchardroad. My most favourite place to go when i go to town

                          As for the cutting, i use hotwire cutting, pass a current through a high resistance wire.

                          The white polystyrene foam is not really hard, dents inwards when something hard hits it like a screwdriver

                          Depron is another white foam but sold in sheets harder and abit higher density then the normal white polystyrene foam.

                          Blue foam is the hardest among them ,hard and strong but trade of is weight about 1.5 to 2x heavier then the white polystyrene foam

                            I think the white foam will be more better to work with, blue foam might be strong but I afraid when come to cutting it on hot wire it will be more harder plus when spray painting the plane the blue foam background will still be seen......not sure just hope it will not lol........ Let me check with foam supplier first they might got bigger size and cheaper I guess.......... if not then we'll off for the one at ArtFriend, just need to find out how many pieces will we needed for this project?

                              Snice the plan is scaled up by 1.4 times,the volume of the plane would upsized 2.7 Times. So we need approx 3 of the (2"x 3ft x 2ft) white foam,and one for extra just incase we need it. So make that 4 pieces of whitefoam

                              I recommend using blue foam for the wings, Its sturdy and won't flex as much as white foam. Eh..about spray painting blue foam, don't worry. We can apply white primer to coat the surface first before sparying. No blue colour will be seen.

                                Added the nav lights each side of the intake and a strobe light that flashes. I made the flashing circuit myself..., just simply er..borrow and not returning some components from my school and fix it up.

                                I would love to share this flashing circuit with you guys, its pretty fun and simple to make one yourself... (see picture)

                                Components are:
                                2 x 100Mohm resistors
                                2 x 470ohm resistors
                                2 x 10uF caps
                                2 x NPN transistors
                                and a blank PCB board

                                I then uses the flasher circuit and connect to a male servo connector so that i could plug into one of the empty rx slot (see picture again, sry for being messy! )

                                Anyway now i think my F-16 is ready for night flying
