Just How WaterProof is Your Truck?

Well, I subject my truck to the some hardcore water test today.

None of the water got into the plastic hardcase that encase the RX

The Traxxas waterproof servo at stock works well (no sillicone, epoxy required on this servo).

The LRP AI Bullet Reverse works well in my opinion and it can remain expose to the harsh elements of mud and water.

I just realised that tamiya high lift version was realy2 realistic men, the 3 speed gearbox looks like real. I was thinking to get one of them in the future. If anyone have this truck (F350/tundra/hilux) please let me know how much you get the kit, what is included in the kit, if I want to use MFC unit do I need to use tamiya transmiter or can use futaba or spectrum 6 /7 chanel (I have JR 7 channel). If must use tamiya transmiter, how much does it cost?

        thanks.

The 3 speeders ranges between S$480 to abt S$550. The kit at stock only includes a silvercan 540 size motor. No ESC is included cos Tamiya will leave it to you to choose which option you wish to go.

If you go without the MFC unit, then go get a simple esc that supports the silvercan. You will need at min of at least 4Ch TX for you to shift gears, steer plus control sound and light in the future.

Should you go with the MFC option right from the start, then dun get the ESC cos this is integrated into the MFC unit. Once again use a 4Ch TX.

My preference is to go with a 2.4GHz setup for scaleness - no protruding antenna and jump straight into building the truck with the mfc unit.

I have build all 3 trucks, the Ford F350, the Toyota Hilux and the Tundra, let me know if you have further question

Here're some of my past vids....Enjoy

That S$480 - S$550 kit only? How much MFC? I found in some website around US$300, how much in singapore do you know?

2.4GHz? looks neat, no antena. But I have JR DSX7, for heli, but the left stick throtel got step2, and the stick will stay in position (won't go back to central). From here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg7RL5zEgZk I have no idea how does it works if we use 4ch pistol type transmitter. What transmiter do you use? what I know from pistol type, we only have throtel and steering ch, the rest 2 ch is switch.

For the gear, how does it works? I thought it shift automatically if we reach a certain speed, we are not shift the gear by switch right?

And about the speed, is it like this :

            #################################################
            # Throtel stick # Speed # Gear #
            #################################################
            # 67.1% - 100% # 67.1% - 100% # 3rd #

            # -67.1% - -100% # -67.1% - -100% # reverse #
            #################################################

            or like this :

            #################################################
            # Throtel stick # Speed # Gear #
            #################################################
            # 67.1% - 100% # 100% # 3rd #

is it like tamiya mechanic speed control (M02 chasis) or like futaba MC230 ESC, can move forward very2 slow.

            thanks

                Hi Vi3

I'm glad you have a Mode 1 Heli or Plane Transmitter, that is a brilliant start and one less item to get!.

The 3 speeders works more like the manual gear in cars, but instead of having 5 speeds in modern sedan, tamiya gives you 3 speeds.

You will need to attach a plate called 'shift gate' on your transmitter (left control stick), to allow you to shift gear like the real thing. pls see the attach pix. And this gate is available at Stargek or Winnie's place. This shift gate can be easily removedd should you wish to fly your heli and planes. The right plate (on the right control stick) is not necessary.

The table you present in your earlier mail abt the speed vs gear ratio is irrelevant...why? cos Tamiya gives you a real gear box just like the real manual car gear box. I have attached a picture here for your viewing pleasure. and it shifts gear (using the shift gate on the left stick as a guide) just like a real car!!!

                So what you needs is

1 pc of servo for the steering control (you use your right stick for mode 1). It does not matter if your right stick up/down has no spring. Move right stick left and right mto simulate steering.

1pcs of servo for pulling and pushing the gear box transmission, thereby changing your gear. This you do on the left control stick.

Now, as for the stock kit...it DOES NOT comes with the MFC unit. So the stock kit without the MFC cost between S$450 -550.

The MFC cost another S$450...but this add a whole new dimension of sight and sound to your truck!!.

Last but not least...you dun use a 3Ch gun controller to run this car.

Hope te above helps...and text or call me should you wish to enquire more. My no. is 96160992.

                  Thanks bozora for your advise.

Is gear gate no need to use screw? Btw, my tx is mode 2, left stick don't have spring, so, if I switch to mode 1, I feel wierd if I frive rc car use right throtel.

I need to spend about S$1000 fo this?! still expensive huh, maybe because those are new models. I compare with king hauler, I think king hauler using same 3 speed mechanism also, and the price cheaper than those 3 new truck.

Currently I need to control my expence , i think I'll buy next year, maybe the price already drop and surely I'll have the $$ also.

The shift gate is stickered on and to be frank, i dun use it becos I'm aready quite familiar with the shifting. and yes the king hauler and other trailer truck uses the same 3 speed but pls note that they use a different MFC, which is also slightly cheaper.

Yes the price can be prohibitive for most but it is ultra scale.

yup, ultra scale, thats why i want it, and also pajero metaltop wide, chasis looks real and invisible body mounting.

So why dont u get the Pajero first? It's affordable compared to the 3 speeders
                        1/10 Tamiya CC-01 Pajero
                        1/10 Axial SCX10 with Hummer H2 body

I agree with Jinspade..the Pajero Metaltop is just as realistic. You can refer to my vids of the Pajeros posted on this thread.

You can also add sound if you are adventurous. I added sound to my CR-01 Unimog using 3rd party sound module. They sounded as real.

Check this out...vids of my unimog fitted with sound.
