I was in Taiwan last week for a UAV design competition organised by the National Cheng Kong University of Tainan, who is also my host for the few days there.
Suprise suprise...the NCKU team is also using the mega power 120A hv esc for their weight lifting plane. The competition plane they had tipped the scale at over 16kg of auw, including payload. Motor used is the align 600 motor, which is the standard motor specified by the rule, running on 6s 5200mah.

Apparently, I am not the only one who thinks the wires on the esc are too short.
NCKU also brought along another big e-plane for demo flight. This one is powered by the mega power 120A hv esc, a axi 53xx motor and 6s5200mah lipo.

Taxi, Take off and land. You can see the big esc sitting outside. Probably because of the hot weather, lower voltage and heavy weight, the esc was mounted outside of the fuse. Many of the teams willingly sacrifice the aerodynamics of the plane, mounting the esc outside of the fuse. One team had the esc went into slow spool down split second before take off...so I think the weight lifting competition might be quite siong on the esc...
