    Vladimir's ELF - DLG

Got this mini DLG from Pang at the end of the sloping season.
    This is an easy build.
Waiting for the new RX and batteries to be delivered before I can test fly this small baby.

The quality of the build from Vladimir is excellent!

    Looking forward to flying this.

This latest version of the ELF comes with lots of details already done at factory,so the kit can be ready to fly in one evening. Basically just need to glue on the horizontal stab, vertical stab and the 2 servos. Quite straight forward build.

Some build notes that the manual may not be clear.

Hook the elevator push rod to the V-mount before glue on the horizontal stab. Dont need to remove V-mount.

Yes, all the parts were already C-AD'ed in.
Just take note of the pylon supporting the V-mount of the horizontal stabilizer. The pylon was C-AD'ed, and it broke loose after a few flights.
I was flying it and found the elevator controls felt sluggish. I thought that my servo was loose or loose linkage. It was the pylon that came loose from the boom.

I applied a little epoxy to hold the pylon to the boom, and the problem was solved.

Please watch out on this part on your builds.

Mine came out too on the 1st hard landing. It seems like Vladimir try to keep the plane as light as possible so only a bit of CA is place on the V-mount. I went with a simpler solution. pour more thin CA in and it is good to go. Had a few more hard landing, the v-mount is holding well. Please watch out when you pour thin CA into the the mount. If you pour too much, it will get to the rudder control rod. If that happen, you have more work to do.
                    Akira.

Hi, I was at the justflyit event at marina promenade and met up with pang and his friend. I was amazed at the ELF and yesterday night, my fingers somehow found the magic add to cart button and pressed it. With the DLG processing, I read through the threads in RCgroups.

While waiting for pang to call me for collection, I have 1 question:
RCgroup's build mentioned to stiffen the notch for the boom slot with a few winds of kevlar thread on the Leading Edge of the fin, finishing with a few drops of CA. Can I ask your opinion of this step? Is it worth the effort?

Getting excited to play with the go-anywhere DLG.

                        Correction:
The tail part of the boom notch was wrapped with some stuff. According to the build explanation, its kevlar wrap.

If I skip this, can? How are your ELFs holding up bros?

Yes. A few rounds of kevlar where the boom splits for the vert stab will help strengthen the area. I do this for full size dlgs as well. A 5minute job for some piece of mind. If u stay in the east i can pass you a length of kevlar thread if u want.
