    Helicommand HC3-SX

Hi, looking at upgrading my FBL controller to HC3-SX because of the auto bail out feature (just crashed my Atom 500 and like to have something to bail out of a bad situation). Can anyone PM me where is the best deal in Singapore to get the HC3-SX? Many thanks in advance.

I think RCS or Singahobby carry them. As an alternative you can try Ikon or MSH Brain or Skookum 720.
    Too many helis!

dun be a wet blanket lah...give him a chance to try the bailout features. I hv read quite a bit of rave reviews abt this hc3. the bailout will save you from plenty of heartbreak and sleepness nights. Hv fun and update us on its capabilities.

                Nosein,

Good luck with your testing....some experience here...
As Jaffrie said...you need to train youself when panic , what you do...
Here is the problem I have....I train myself so much that when panic I will always hit throttle hold to minimize damage and potential injury cause. Rather then hitting the bailout switch....

One of the newer recovery functions is like the "hard deck" which do not require to hit recovery switch, but come into play once you are below certain altitude. SK54)/SK720+GPS will do that...that is what I will try once I get the GPS from LHS.

The best auto bail out feature is still you the flyer. My understanding is that HC3-SX uses accelerometers to stabilise the heli in bail out mode (correct me if I'm wrong), and is not fool proof. I've used SK720 before and like Jaffrie said if you panic, the heli can still crash. Maybe the best bail out a gyro can provide would be one paired with a GPS module, which holds not only position but also altitude. Check this out:

Align also has a GPS module, but both these solutions may be costly.

My bad, Helifreak forums state HC3-SX does not use accelerometers, unlike SK720.

I recall a smacktalk episode where Bobby Watts mentioned that if one loses orientation, do NOT panic and centre both sticks to try to regain control. Well, I always find the panic factor the hardest to overcome.

i have a hc3sx mounted on my Gaui X5 for the past 6 months..
Honestly the flight characteristics and performance of the hc3sx has been surprisingly good for me..
really good and comparable to the best for the FBL... Example Mikado VBAR and Spartan Vortex VX1
Though hc3sx setup is not as easy as VBAR. reason could be I've been a user of VBAR for the past 3 years...

As for the "rescue+collective" option, so far whenever i tried.. it always works..
Its good to know there's a safety net whenever you fly.. in that sense i actually am more daring flying my X5 as compared to my other machines..

however yes got to train yourself to use the rescue "switch" instead of throttle hold when something goes wrong...
i don't found this really difficult, for me 1 way is use a switch physically close to the throttle hold...a momentary switch is even better

aside from the comparatively higher costs issue, its really quite a good piece of FBL electronic to have..

just my humble opinions after trying Align 3G, Futaba CGY750, VBar, Spartan Vortex VX1, Helicommand HC3SX, BeastX, JR TAGS01

There is a gyro that I've seen being used on a Goblin 700 & 2 Goblin 500 here.
Its a NAZA gyro. when your learning to fly around & if you are disorientated, just
let go the sticks & the heli will self level & hoover. When switched off, it behaves
like any fbl gyro but I think it's only applicable for normal flight which is good for
initial flight trainning. Not to scare you off Nosein but what I said is true off any
gyro that I myself am familiar with that has bail out features. Btw when I was
crashing my Atom I too thought about upgrading the gyro to SK 720 but
some how my instinct got the better of me & I started to be able to identify
mistakes & self correct during flight. Hence the best bail out feature is still oneself.
Also the minute that you no longer are pareniod of crashing is the time that your
flying will improve immensely. I only got there when I crash my Goblin 630 &
the fear just stop. Why so cause it cost me a bundle to repair the Gob & I
told myself Fxxxck it & that was the day my flying improved. Moral of the
story, don't be fed up or am afraid of crashing. If your afraid, you will tend to
                          crash more.

Hc3sx has this same feature which you described above

Hey guys, many thanks for sharing. Agreed that the best is to practice until can fly better. Yeah, panic time is not the best thinking time. Will have to remember not to hit throttle hold (the left switch in my Futaba) and use the momentary switch on the right for rescue! Hope I don't screw up when I fly my other heli that are still using BeastX :! The hard deck demo video is great - hope that Helicommand would come out with the hard deck add on. Anyway, I will install my HC3-SX this weekend and hope to report back
