Ok, now i've ran out of pictures to post till right now. What you guys have seen from the begainning of the post till here was 1 week of planning, 1 week of building and 1 week of painting.

2hours each day when i have school, and 12hours on weekends.

Man....where all the time have flown to? This boeing 777 is now worth a very cheap cheap of $50 material cost. But a very very time consuming of 80+ man-hours to get it done. Just like the equation Time = Money. I traded my Time for money instead.

(last pic) i stood beside the plane to give a human to plane size comparsion
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Conclusions

    - Firstly, thanks joeyap for the planes you showed me 1year and 6months ago ,also when i started posting my scratch building planes on daddyhobby!! Greatful for your autocad plans or this plane woundn't be here today.

    - Thx for the heart warming comments given while i'm still in the middle busily posting this thread.

    - Weiyao. True, but you're way better in flying then me ,that is something i lack of. I actually prefer building more to flying. But..., once again, wheres the fun when theres planes without flying

    - Will want to go bedok reservoir to give it a try with help from the experts there ,i won't do this alone as i never slope before. Wont wanna see a broken boeing 777 at the end of the day

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I have Questions

    1) Snice i'm staying really far away from bedok..., (i'm a jurong west) It'll be a pity if i made it all the way there but no wind... So currently i'm relying on this 2 websites to forecast the winds for me , it is reliable?

Windfinder.com - Detailed wind, waves, weather & tide forecast for Singapore Changi Airport / Singapore, Singapore for kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, fishing & hiking.

    2) As long wind is blowing from N, Ne or E it would be ok to go sloaping?

    3) How many knots (wind speed) excatly it is suitable for a slope begainner like me and to keep this boeing777 airborne.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*** Admin can you help to shift this thread to the airplane section , i accidentally post this in the EDF section thanks

            Hi,
I really admire the scratch build effort that you have made. The result, I am sure, is very satisfying!!
Regarding the trade-off for time Vs money, sometimes, you'll find that scratch building actually cost more than building an ARF, or kit planes. Many of the customized parts that you'll need for the scratch build cost more!

With the lessons learned and experience gained from scratch building, it is priceless compared to anything else. Enjoying your satisfaction from the build and seeing it fly is much, much more than money can buy.

Keep up the good work and share your future projects. Hopefully, with the motivation here, more people can also try out scratch building.

wow, firstly, great work and beautiful plane. Nothing beats having built it yourself. I don't have the skills nor time for this.

Is transportation going to be difficult? with a big body and a 1piece wing.

If you are coming down to BR on a weekend for maiden, give a shout out to all, I don't mind going there to check it out.

              Relax and Enjoy The Hobby.
Note to self: Must stop buying too much stuff.

Hi guys, once again thanks for the comments .

Yes i agree with msc that scratch building is way 'expensive' (Time = Money) then buying Ready-To-Fly planes because of the time spent on scratchbuilding. Because i'm a student now..., i have time to build planes but rely on my low school money to support this hobby. When i'm older and found a job i might just start buying planes. But i won't ever quit scratch building!

Anyway, yep, when i'm flying the B777 at bedok i'll announce right here at least 1 week in advance. Transportation will be difficult for me. I always bring planes into the MRT to bring em around, used to it already...especially people staring at me when i walk around in public and shopping malls.

Ok some following updates will be/have done to my Boeing 777.

                        1) Wings and fuselage held together by magnets. Done
                        2) Attact a tow release machanism to plane (after seeing the aerotow post, its kinda exciting and i want to have a go too!) Will be done

total 10 magnets is used (bought from jethobby) to join the wings to the fuselage of plane rather then the normal screw and nut meathod. Unsure of anyone tried this before. But it seems to hold pretty tight, pulling the wing apart from the body its quite hard so to remove simply slide the magnets across each other then pull apart.

This way also helps to reduce time screwing in and out each time i've to change batt or do maintainace. Transportation will be still difficult though..., carrying 2 objects the height of 1.5m and 1.7m . MRT door is estimated to be ~200cm high. So yep... have a ~30cm clearance!

Oh,anyway turemini, i'm not bringing this to school and fly. School field will be too small to fly it, even if its aerotowed, hand towed...etc. I've lost a couple of planes there due to glitches as well ,remember?! Not going to lose this baby in school.

                        Fly it

Well done viper1990! You got the makings of a great scratch builder! I couldn't agree more that designing, building and flying your own creations beats buying a ready made plane.

Thanks Weeliano!! The plane hadn't flown yet till today , but can't wait to get it flying soon.

Ok anyway today i decided to give it a shot at slope soaring. I woke up at 12pm, quickly...really quicky build a dazi sloper in under 3 hours ,its airfoiled using depron to sandwiched the template inside.

So i left my house at 3pm for bedok reservoir.
it took me a freaking long 1 hour 40mins to reach there from boonlay and the wind wasn't strong at all, but snice i came all the way might as well throw the plane down the slope right? it was gliding... well, badly , went to the bottom of the slope and pick it up again...and did it about 10times was tiring and probably lost some fats and converted into muscles Its either the wind is not strong today or i really really suck at slope soaring. But hey it's my first time after all! Can't blame it. hahaha.

Till i master slope soaring, i'll then get the Boeing 777 flying there!

And now...i shall present a video on how sucky we are..., no seriously, did i throw the plane correctly? fly correctly? ...ummm..., or its really not windy today.

                              Build it
                              Fly it
