      Hi,
I did not add anything extra in the boom of my Elf. There is no issue with the boom on mine so far.
For the vertical fin, I had secured the fin into the pre-cut slot with the minimum amount of epoxy.

Bare in mind that the more you add to the rear of the DLG, the more you would need to counter-balance upfront. This will add to the entire weight of the model.

So others make to fin area stronger by adding kevlar and CA or epoxy. It's up to you to decide what's best for your own model.

      Happy slinging!

I would suggest to give few rounds of the kevlar srting and finish with CA. I do this to all my DLGs to avoid spliting. The weight penalty is almost negligible and it's very easy to do. I also have some kevlar string to spare if you're in the west.

I have finally been training hard with the launch technique. I was watching Jun Catacutan's video and really was impressed with his launch smoothness. ELF flies great!

Is there anyone flying DLGs? I would like to join for a sharing session if possible. Being my first DLG, there is a lot to learn.

Jun C's last words keep ringing in my mind, "Launch high, fly low". I don't quite get him... long learning road ahead...

Didn't understand that myself. But I normally launch high and fly low, that's bcos I couldn't catch thermal. Given the choice, I would like to launch high and fly higher.

We do normally meet up during Saturday mornings at Sengakang. But we might be losing that field to BTOs. Will keep you psted.

I think he means don't try to stay high. So launch high, find a thermal, climb, get out of the thermal, come down find another thermal, if cannot then launch again, repeat repeat repeat. Great practice for yr reading skills.

Personally I don't compete so I want to launch and stay high. But I'll never be among the best.

              Happy pirouetting!

Launch high n fly low - so that you can see what's the plane is doing , to feel the air around you, and compare and validate it. He talks abt it ard the 7.20 mark here http://youtu.be/-PDUmBlod6E

And if you have time joe wurts third vector http://youtu.be/0w_87NRe2fk

Joe's third vector is a very good reference.
