    Starting out..Is HoneyBee good?

    Hi,

Starting out on this hobby. Was considering getting the Honey Bee T (EK1H-E003) for $250 from shop.rotor.com.sg

Is this a suitable/good rc heli for a newbie like me? Pls advise. Thanks.

its a good start. everything u need is there, just charge batts and put on transmitter batts and ready to go. Also very durable, parts cheap.

i have the HB2 FP, and got it to hover after a few packs of batteries. Might need someone to help u trim the heli initially.

The dragonfly is better becos the electronics arre sperate: 2X esc, receiver, gyro. Whereas the honeybee is all in one unit. So if one spoil all spoil. Second is that for draginfly u can select better equipment. Of course the dragon fly is more expensive about close to 600, whereas the honeybee range from 250 to 375.

u still need to add 129, 102 & 40 for transmitter, crystal, battery, & setup.

whoa...kam..you really did your homework har...

so assuming 600 is the overall price..then that's not very difficult to decide...can fly 3d??

timothy..i think the pros will sure ask what's yr budget..

if budget is a constraint or you are not sure if you'll like heli or you just want to experience flying a heli...go for the hbt..get the most out of it..then decide later if you want to upgrade....just like me..

perhaps if you like something more for outdoor..then go for the hb fp..more ex..

i am quite used to the hbt now..more than 2 months since started and still loving every minute of it..and am considering of learning 3d as well..perhaps i'll get a simulator first...but not sure yet..maybe hb2 which is cheaper..or go straight to t-rex..but i have never considered about others..

so here is to share my 2 cts opinion and little experience..hope this will help you to decide..

but if i had the choice again i will go for the dragonfly, cos the equipment specs better. seperate electronics can upgrade gyro. then comes with lipo and charger also. Like now i need to get lipos cost $. Then want to upgrade gyro also difficult cos gotta buy rx, gyro, esc, maybe even servos since that day brian say not compatible.

I got the HB cos i did not know if i would like RC heli. Its the same with choice between HB or Trex. if know goning to be in it for long run then get the more expensive one.

                    Honeybee Kit

The Honeybee 5004C is also available in kit form - with only the body, main and tail motors if you're interested to go separates. I bought mine at SHS.

My worry is that if I like heli flying i may end up buying the dragonfly in the end can the Honey bee be upgraded and can it pull some tricks?

i think if you are thinking of grading parts..go for the dragonfly then..really i personnal find its not worth the effort upgrading the electronics for hb..i haven't tried dragonfly yet..but i'm pretty sure even if you get the best parts, the hb will not be a stable cos of its weight..maybe pros can help me out here..
