    Mysterious tail wagging problem

    Hi need help again !

Posted this on the ezone forum as well, i'm having this tail wagging problem with my feda on seperates that's really quite annoying...

After about 2 minutes or so into a fresh battery pack the tail starts wagging and main power starts getting slightly erratic.no radio glitching.

what's interesting though ( and leads me to believe this nonsense is caused by the rate of change in pack voltage as it's discharged) is a less than full pack can fly up to 11 minutes, right till the heli cant fly , without any wagging.

so i try restarting the heli whenever the wagging starts, but that doesnt seem to help oddly enough.

Happens now and then, anyone here have the same problem ?
i'm using 2 cell Etec 1200s, kokam 1500s and the feda nimh pack

You have the gain setting on the gyro too high. Turn it down slightly.

i thought the same initially, so i tried flying with the gyro gain set to the minimum and it didnt help the wagging

I've replaced my tail motor and it didnt help either.

could u advise the setup u have. eg which gyro etc....

If u are using the stock ****** gyro from SHS....I tried the other time, seems like ideal is ard 65% gyro gain...

It there any vibration....I seldom heard off FEDA having tail wag prob

          hi mike

Yup i'm using the ****** gyro with gws 10 amp and 5 amp esc, ips tail motor with 3020.

i usually fly with my gain set at roughly 40% or so.

There isn't much vibration, only very slight when i raise the power now and then.

Yeah it's strange, i think the setup should be ok, since the first 2 minutes are fine, and after plugging in a somewhat used pack that's not fully dishcarged the heli can fly wag free till the pack dumps completely.

another thign that's odd is that when i'm climbing fast the wagging goes away too. only happens at lower power setting like when it's settled in a hover or flying level.

Hi D.Yeo, base on the info, u are going separate w/o a head holding gyro? Wah.....thats pretty cool cos I cant hold the heli for a few second.....tried loyn's unit. Could it be this non head holding issue? When u mean wagging, do you mean it really wag or drift?

oh ya.. i'm on the same setup, seperates without hh gyro.. got to tune the gain lower.. i get slight wagging at hover too..

              Failure is not final,
              Success is never ending:
It is not the destination but the journey that matters.

              Wadever the journey, keep flying!

Yup seperates without a heading hold gyro....

and it's wagging, back and forth

I've tried flying it with the gain set to min but it doesnt help the wagging. Only thing that helps is if i turn the whole thing off, wait for about a minute, then turn it on again.

sometimes it'll work and i can fly right till my pack dumps without this problem so i'm pretty sure my setup's sound. When it doesnt i just get fed up and keep reconnecting till it does heh.

if its without HH then you will need to ajust the revo mixing to get the revo right then put the gyro on.....otherwise the gyro is doing all the work and trying to get it to hold and of course there is a log between the sensor and the output to the tail moving.

play with the revo first then play with the gyro..

                  just my two cents worth.

                  cheers doug

                    that helps !

Hey doug i think that's exactly it, balancing thigns out with revo seems to help things quite a bit , thanks !

oh oh i just went try things out after recharging my packs and the whole tail wagging came back with the vengeance .
