    Servos for sail control

    Hi All

    Need some advise.

Have just completed building my Victoria.
Been testing it out with normal servos for the sail control, but seems that there isn't much pull power.

    Questions :

I was considering to swop to a high torque servo, anyone with advise if I should switch or is it a norm to use normal servos for sail controls.

I use Hitec HS-755HB sail servo for my Victoria.

      Torque at 4.8/6 V(kg/cm) - 11.0/13.2
      Speed at 4.8v - 0.23sec

I dun race my Victoria, so servo a bit heavy doesn't matter.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Yes, i agree with you on the the troque.
however going digital its helps in precision.
and eventually you will want to have higher speed response for the sail, as you would need it in stong wing conditons to help counter capsize situations.

As i am not sure you are going for hi-speed manoeuvre or leisure sail.
you might happen to hunger for speed when you really get tired of turn and doing cophern.

well you might want to try it out in strong wing conditions with your current settings to see if suits your style of skipping your vic.

          cheer!
          happy sailing skipper.

I'm really a leisure sailor... And pretty happy with the setup currently. When I want speed, I'll launch something with prop.
