    Nitro Hammer

Managed to pick up one of these Nitro in Perth last week. She comes with a very impressive tuned pipe, but has a submerged prop so probably no cool rooster tails. You can see that I've added a brass cross-brace to the rudder bracket... apparently a weak point for this boat. Also substituted the daggy factory graphics with my own daggy graphics

Will post a vid once I get her running

If in doubt - add more horsepower!

Well Phan, if I had stuck to flying, I would crash and write off a plane once in a while so I could never have too many planes. The problem with boats is that I get to take them home in one piece every time

Anyway, look out for my "liquidation" sale... it's getting difficult to move around the house at night without walking into rudders and propellors

BTW, the Hammer is only 2 feet long from the bow to the end of the rudder bracket... sounds like your kind of boat

Dor - true, boats (except mine) usually get home in one piece.

Hey, hang in there, don't give up on your collection just because you are stepping on them. Just buy a new home or move into a warehouse....

OK , will see how the hammer goes. I am definitely averse to the nitro version. Storing fuel at home does not comfort me very much especially when there is a baby. Also, I am looking at somethign from 1 to 1.25 feet - will fit into a NTUC plastic bag.

Thanks for the kind words Richard... I hope she runs as well as she looks. I've never had a submerged prop boat before so would be interested to see how efficient this set up is compared to a surface drive boat with a similar .15 engine.

Zan, Mad A, time to fire up your Nitro Vees for a shoot-out

More like time to dust my NIB EP Hammer!
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Has been in cold storage for quite some time now. You see, I got it off a sale at Towers but it's purple. Intended to give it a fresh coat of paint but never get to it.

Found another weak-spot in the Hammer... the FUEL TANK. It leaks due to the dodgy seals used in the brass hardware at the bottom of the tank!! This isn't much help to the already short run-time because of the tank's small volume.

Anyway, just replaced it with a 4oz dubro tank... now waiting for the silicone "glue" to dry. She's a swift and maneuverable little boat! Ran 2 tanks through her today... will run a couple more before opening it up to see what she can do A big thanks to Mad A for his "Reef Racer" rescue service

The Dubro tank is sure bigger than the pipsqueak stock tank. I believe it's a 75cc tank used for 1/10 nitro.

Yeah, the little tank is only suitable for car use... not for boats which we tend to run at constant high throttle

                              Hammer Video

Here is a short vid of the Hammer running through her 3rd tank from new. Had just started running the 4th tank when the prop hit a submerged object and was damaged...

Sorry about my head blocking your view for part of the video... but the engine is almost there... another 2 tanks should complete the break-in

Will post a better video when she's fully broken-in.

The file is 8.5MB... about 30 seconds to download (best to right click and save locally before running).

If in doubt - add more horsepower!
