i saw that kind of scene on tv B4 they say its a kind of "move" to somehow slow down a illegal vassel in the sea.. i think by blowing sea water in..
Please look at the topic. Its a heli transfer, the heli is not trying to stop the vessel!!!
Any pilot will not risk stopping a vessel in that kind of weather!!! The ship will not sink but the heli will!!! Imagine the heli blades hit any of the ships antenna!!!
Also imagine u r the guy being transferred from the ship to the heli!!
You should ask the men at 125 Squadron at SBAB. They do this all the time. Everyday, SAR choppers are at standby (2 of them) 24x7 for rescues out at sea. When winching down large ships, sometimes, the Puma has to follow the ship at full speed so that the ship is doesn't bop too much, and have to squeeze between towering structures at aft and stern. The doc and aircrew get winched down, but usually they do this in good weather.
If you want to fly in these machines, but don't want to sign on, then you have to be a medic there, you then can fly VERY frequently, sometimes as much as 2-3 times a day. Of course, the MO also get to fly too. Sorties can be as fast as 15 mins or as long as 2-3 hours, depending on the SOS location.
Else, you have to be an aircrew if not the pilot. Aircraft mechanic also get to fly once in a while, but not as often as aircrew. Want to sign on? Visit the RSAF career centre.
125 Squadron do have "open house day", but I think invitation to grass root and RC members of Sembawang.
Maybe if a few of you interested to sign on, maybe can get base commander to have a open house for DH members? Then you guys can show them what you guys can do while the pilot can't - flying inverted.

Not sure what heli that is, but its for transferring ship crew from oil rig or ships to shore. As the ships dont go back to port often, a heli is used. Its very common in this industry.
Its juz 1 of the many photos I rip from my company's server.
I have done such stuff b4 but at calm sea not such a sea state!!!
