    TX - Mode

    Hi All

I understand that our tx can be in different mode (1 or 2 if I can remember correctly). Which one is more commonly used? I also remember that the mode can be switched?

    Anyone can enlighten.

    Thanks.

    Hi

Well... in Asia (S'pore, Taiwan, HK) normally it is in Mode 1. In U.S. and some part of Europe, it is in Mode 2.
In Mode 1, the throttle is on the right stick Y-axis (or up/down) while Mode 2, the throttle is on the left stick Y-axis.
Practically all TX can be mod to different mode.

For most of us, we prefer Mode 2 because maybe due to most of us are right handed. That means controlling aileron and elevation using right hand is more accurate. In real airplane and U.S. Helicopter, the throttle is in left hand also.

Mode 1: rudder and elevator are controlled by the left stick, throttle and ailerons by the right.

Mode 2: ailerons and elevator are controlled by the right stick, rudder and throttle by the left.

Mode 3: rudder and elevator are controlled by the right stick, ailerons and throttle by the left.

Not all transmitters allow DIY mode switching. Try doing a check at the vendor's/manufacturer site for details.

Most common in Singapore: mode 1
Most common in US: mode 2

Can provide more details of the model of the Tx? Certain Tx does not allow you to do switching eg JR3810 ADT........

it'll involve switching the spring and rachet....quite an easy thing..but if you dunno how then better bring it to one of the guys here and let them help....check with Makuang...he has a FF8 too and he sure knows that TX inside out!

                    Eh toking about Tx,

Arthur, for your Tx, and being a MOde 2 flyer, can you tell me your idle switch is on which side and your throttle hold is on which side?

My Idle switches are on the left and the hold switch is on my right.... Is that wrong?

That is correct for mode 2 heli flyers, my eclipse 7 has its idle on left and hold on right when i ordered mode 2 from rotor.

Phew! I thought have to open up the Tx case!

Anyway, mode 2 rocks! But it also sucks because

I cannot fly Mike's J3 cub, or Fit's, Doug's Hornet, I cannot fly loyn's indoor plane, I cannot fly Arthur's Raptor 50, I cannot fly any of the 100 odd makuang's planes, I cannot fly Doug's Shuttle, I cannot fly Mike's Pic Pro,

But it's neva to late to learn doh!

same as yours...well I think it's brand dependant....doesn't matter to me....I'm pretty ok when I use goh's 3810...his idle up's on the right....
