    Need ESC advice

Need an ESC to power 2x 540 motors in series, so must accept input of 12 cells, best also come with BEC and reverse.

Anyone knows if the Jeti Navy 600 has these features? Cant seem to find the info.

How about Traxxas' Marine EVX? Can handle up to 14 cells. Reverse which can be disabled for forward only racing.

Else, there are a few ESCs from Offshore Electrics to be considered.
For some people it's important to show what they have, for others it's sufficient to know that they have it.

Thanks Mad Armour, the EVX is a great option, but not within my budget for the moment, do you have any idea if i can use 2x 15A ESCs, each to power 1x 540 (normal 27T motor) and parallel the ESCs to RX. Each ESC will have its own 7.2v batt.

I am looking at the low cost Maxxflying 15A esc from Rotor.

Just discovered a limitation of the EVX. It MUST power 2 motors and min cells is 12. So it's use is limited, especially when it's so expensive.

I'm sure you can run with twin ESC setup but I'm not sure if 15A draw is a bit too weak. How about the 100% waterproof Tempo 11? With 11T limit, you can easily power 2 x 27T motors in series. No reverse though. Mtroniks' reversing ESC of similar capacity will be much more ex. You're limited to 4 - 8 cells, but you still can use 2 x 6 packs in parallel for long running time.

But if I use the 2x 6 packs in parallel and the 2x 540 motors in series, each motor will only see 3.6v, will that be too weak?

Oops...my bad. I meant for the motors to be hooked in series too. Sorry.......probably too sleepy last night.

...need to buy you some kopi...

You meant parallel the motors instead of series right?

Found a 30A version of Maxxflying ESC

But I like your tempo 11 recommendation, thanks.... ...its cheaper then buying 2x 30A maxxflying escs.

So my setup using Tempo 11 should be 2x 6-cell packs in parallel (still 7.2v) and 2x 27T 540 motors in parallel, so the ESC is effectively powering a 13.5T load...whew!.. ..best budget setup so far.

Shoot! Make the same mistake twice! I REALLY need some kopi. OK....it's PARALLEL!

Yup, parallel batts powering parallel motors using one ESC. The ESC will think that it's powering a 13.5T motor, so there's still room to spare.

Er.....what boat you have in mind?

Ahem...I may need your advise on scratch building boats coz bought a few kits at the SHS sale. I was blinded by the $10 price tag and at that time, everything oso can! With a calm mind back home, I had a 2nd look at the kits and found that they come in many many pieces if wood which I'm supposed to put together from a large plan. Suddenly my confidence is not that high and I may have bitten more than I can chew!

Anyway, I'll definitely try it myself first!

Hahahaha...it's not a scale model but a racing hydroplane. Brand is Aqua (never heard before ). Saw a package of stuffs inside with 'Pilot' printed on it (plastic package with some red words).

So here's the plan I was tokking about.

Got another sheet lah......once opened, too big liow.

No drive parts, though. I'm thinking of converting it to EP rather than it's intended GP. Managed to get some drive parts for $5 a set. Hopefully it can fit.

Mad Armour, do you have any idea what's the switchable frequency feature for on the tempo 11?
