    Virtual Flights At Local Scenes

    Hi Ya'll,

Check out these videos I made with the simulator....loving every virtual moment of it although I'm not a very good pilot!

One day we will all be flying our virtual model aircrafts in Orchard Road, National Stadium, Padang, Raffles Country Club golf course, The Botanic Gardens etc etc etc......the sky's the limit!

Just in case anyone is interested, I will be compiling the scenes for all to share. Will keep everyone posted.

Excellent job, so are the scenes for RF G2 / RF G3 or Reflex XTR...?, the later I have heard has better physics than RF. I currently use RF G2 and was about to upgrade to RF G3 but if the scenes are for XTR then choice is simple as I can then fly local which is far superior.

                Local Scenes

                Hi,

The video capture is based on the Reflex XTR. If your simulator can take in panoramic pictures (.bmp, .jpg etc.) and you know how to tweak the simulator software (if needed), you can use these shots in your simulator. I only know how to set it up on the XTR though...sorry!

Yes, all the scenes will be put up for all to share....anyone knows where I can post it to? The picture file is a panoramic .bmp that is 72 mb large. Another way is for me to save it as a .jpg which is about 14 mb large and you have to convert it to a .bmp file on your computer. I can also burn a CD for all to pass around with all the directories so you just need to copy into your XTR directory.

Anyway, I am in the process of doing another 3 local scenes with many more to come. Any suggestions?

Great Job Yeek!! Keep up the good work.

It really remind me last time ppl do come out a Counterstrike for Singapore location like HDB playground, MRT and etc with local Ah Beng Slang!

                    Hi,

Thanks for the information as far as I am aware RF G2 does not support this it has its own scenery generator which means you have to create from scratch which is no where near as realistic as what you have achieved. I had a peek at the XTR site and they also have a plane designer which again is supposed to come one day with RF G3 so the Reflex solution is definately ahead of RF.

I suspected that the image was going to big, creating panoramic shots with any sort of resolution is going to require a lot of pixels. As you correctly say even if put it on a server downloading 72MB is going to be a slow thing even with Broadband. If you are proposing to provide several scenes then this opens up a whole new world, currently you have Punggol electric and oil burning sites which is fine for me, but I am sure that there are many other TDH readers who would like their flying site, Tampines, the flight training school that is on our web site and I am sure many more.

To this end personally I appreciate all the work done and would prefer to have have it on CD as a bitmap rather than convert from JPG to Bitmap as I am sure that there would be some losses in the conversions back and forward so to speak. So I think I have indicated as to how I would like the scenes, I will drop you a PM on this.

Finally where did you purchase XTR and the associated USB cable in Singapore..?

                      Yeek,
It is a great job that you are doing for our flyers here.

I have just sent you a PM on 2 flying locations.

                      Happy flying!
                      I have seen them all.

A mediocre r/c pilot who thinks that he is one top gun.

A nerd looking and sick flyer who thinks that he is a great modeller.

                            Upload the scene files

Cool! But 1 lmitation though...my yahoo and gmail only allows max 10mb attachments. What about ftp? Unless I patch down the .jpg to a lower quality and higher compression one...which is not ideal.

Yeek, you don't have to do down size it. I have provided you an alternate solution. Pls check your PM and I need your email address.
