Tamiya electric RCs - Vintage buggies

    Hi All,

I am 35 now and just visited a tamiya shop in Peyar Lebar today .. went crazy over the Boomerang / Hornets etc

Used to play those cars 20 years ago and now i have the urge to get back into it ( i wanna build my own off course , thats the main kick !! )

Anyway, was told that these cars do not come with spare parts and thus its not advisable to buy one .. damn almost tempted to whack the boomerang today !! its just so tempting ..

I know i need to start afresh again gettin e controllers etc . ... used to remember the old batteries .. man .. those kinds where u spend 2 hrs charging it to play for 5 mins or less .. i dont know it lithium is used now ..

My main preference would be the SUPERSHOT (my dream car in my days - couldnt afford ) but i dont think i can get one now .. sooo .. a boomerang would do just fine ..

Anyone out there can advice on the where to find parts etc for these beauties ? i remember the tires wearing out pretty fast and the parts do crack etc on impact ..

    any suggestions welcome

    Cheers

Any recommendations for remote controls ?

Yesterday wanted to get those box type but was told its 4 channels and the RC buggies need only 2

Also the stick on the remote can sway all directions .. remember last time lefyt hand can move forward n back and right hand left right .. now its 360 degrees ..

Where else can i find more box controls besides paya lebar ?

                          cost ?

u can check with Winnie (S'wan hobby) at orchard plaza 2nd flr. she may have stick/box radios. the 360degree 4 channel type are for planes/heli. there are 2 channel and 3 channel stick radio for cars. I would recommend Futaba stick radios as they have a lot of features especially the higher end 3VCS.cost around 500+, the 3gr also a good choice which is around half the price. I think no point getting those sport tune motor, just use the stock esc n silver can motor to practice n then buy brushless esc/motor which cost around 100+ to few hundreds. .is stargek boomerang price of 250 after or before discount? a forummer here sgvillain is selling around 220 new, u may check with him.

oh about the parts, by right stargek should be able to help u order the parts for the boomerang. or u can always try ebay, or just buy 2 kits i bought the boomerang tires from Ebay, faster than stargek n price around the same.
